Basketball drills

  • The teacher places 2 pilons.
  • See floor plan for the precise location, keep the basketball lines.
  • The teacher divides the students into 2 teams and each team stands behind a pilon.
  • The teams have to shoot the ball from the pilon into the basket.
  • When a student has shot, he/she picks up the ball, gives/passes the ball to the next in line and connects to the back of the line again.
  • Every ball that goes into the basket is a point.
  • The team that scored 5 points first wins.

shootout-2

  • Team with 3 balls in a row on the freethrow line.
    • First one shoots,
    • second one shoots,
    • If the previous player misses, the next player can shoot him out of the game.
  • If you miss your shot, quickly finish under the basket.
  • If the player behind it scores, the next player is out.
  • Until one remains.
  • With 3 balls, faster, more effective than with 2.
  • Three rows.
  • Shoot and join at the back of the next row.
  • Hurry up, watch where you're going.
  • Everybody catch a ball, catch your own ball and join the back of the next row.
  • Variations:
    • Up to the twenty or thirty.
    • Until everyone has scored ten times.

  • Player is explained shooting technique.
  • Practicing over distance on the field.
  • Pay attention to technique and the curve of the ball. After 10 practice throws in the field, the first player slides into the ring.
  • 1 Player stands in the first hoop and shoots. If it's in, it's 1 point, player moves to the second hoop and shoots , 2 points if it's scored.
  • If it's not scored, then move to 1 hoop closer. If it's scored, move to the 3rd hoop.
  • If you score the 3rd hoop, you get 3 points and you may stay and shoot again.
  • Max score is: 1-2-3-3-3-3-3-3=27 points.
  • Under the basket is a teammate who rebounds and passes the ball back to the shooter.
  • After 10 attempts, shooter and rebounder change positions. 10 attempts again
  • Remember your score.
  • After one session (10 throws each) these players go to the field to practice and move up the line.
  • When everyone has finished, compare scores.
  • Points of attention: shooting technique, rebound action, (shooter ask for the ball) and passing technique.
drawing Shooting practice
  • Players in a row on the free throw line or for U10 and U12 a bit closer to the basket (put down pilons).
  • First two players have a ball.
  • Player 1 tries to shoot.
  • When the ball is thrown, player 2 may also shoot.
  • If the player misses, go for the rebound as fast as possible, try to score from the area where the rebound is picked up (if it is behind the baseline, dribble in a bit).
  • If player 2 scores before player 1, player 1 is finished and is not allowed to play again.
  • After a goal is scored, pass as soon as possible to player 3 plays so that he can 'kill' his predecessor.
  • Connect yourself at the back of the row.
  • Play on until there is 1 player left.
  • Note that the player who has to be played has to get out at the right side to be able to play. And that the scorer rebounds the ball as fast as possible and plays it back with a good tight pass.

  • Squeeze the Banana: We move the ball between the tips of the fingers and go up and down

  • Around the legs: Around 1 leg -10 X- and then around other leg, changing direction
  • Figure eight: We make a figure eight movement around and through the legs
  • Flip: The legs are spread, we hold the ball between both hands behind the legs and flip the ball through the legs, catching it in front and now back to back
  • Pretzel: Legs spread, we hold the ball between the legs, one hand in front and one in back we release the ball and change hands quickly. In the beginning you let the ball hit the ground then don't hit it anymore
  • Ricochet: Legs spread apart, push the ball through the legs in front and pick it up behind the back with the other hand and bring it forward again
  • Space catch: We throw the ball upwards and catch it behind the back, keep straight otherwise it won't work. First a little low and then higher and higher
  • Speed drill: Legs are spread, we hold the ball with left hand in front and right hand behind, we drop the ball and change hands. Then we bring the ball in the left hand in front of the two legs to the starting position and so we gradually drive up the pace to get a rhythm
