Basketball drills for technique dribbling

  • Half of the basketball players have a ball.
  • These basketball players dribble all over the room.
  • On the whistle they pass the ball to someone they first made eye contact with.
  • The pass they use to do so is up to them.
  • Choose the pass that is best in the situation.
  • If you are close to the ball, do not pass.

Try to hit as far as possible without error or loss of ball.

  • Players stand in pairs (about the same size).
  • On the whistle, the player with the ball dribbles to the opposite side while the player without the ball can do heavy defence.
  • There may be physical pressure but no mistakes.
  • Players stop when they have lost control of the ball or when the defence has taken it away.
  • If the player with the ball touches the opposite side, he may dribble again in the next round but against a different defence.
  • Divide the players into 2 groups.
  • Set up a track on both sides of the court where the players have to dribble in between.
  • At the end of the course they can finish on goal.
  • three groups of two per basket
  • try to make qualitatively equal pairs
  • How?
    • 1 pair in front, 2 in forward positions
    • take turns making a drive, alternating attack/defence
    • First of the pair to have 5 points, wins.

Line up at the free throw line and try to out-maneuver each other

  • Dribbling with two balls
    • including three progressions
    • and one regression
  • All children have a ball and a pawn
  • Four benches are lined up one behind the other
  • All children dribble and walk over the bench while carrying the pellet.

Variation: they now put the pylon on their head while dribbling. They walk next to the bench and dribble on the bench. You can make it more difficult by putting the pellet on the head and walking on the bench while dribbling on the ground.

This exercise is good because they have to dribble by feeling and cannot look at the ball, because then the pellet will fall.

2-ball-pass-2-man-shot-basketball-drill-1Player 1 has 2 balls and dribbles to the pawn with both balls.

Player 2 cuts from the corner to the wing.

Player 1 makes a 1 hand push pass to player 2 on the wing.

With the other ball player 1 makes a cross over and shoots the ball.

Player 2 makes a jump shot.

  • wave-8
With 3 men on the back line and the middle one has the ball
  • The middle passes to a man and runs after the ball
  • The man in the middle passes to the man on the other side, who also runs after the ball.
  • They do this while running to the basket on the other side.
  • When someone is close enough to the basket, the man runs a lay-up.
  • He becomes the defender and the other two attackers must try to reach each other with a long ball.
  • The goal of the defender is to prevent the attackers from scoring.
  • If the attackers do not manage to score, they must do 5 push-ups.
