Hockey drills for technique ball control
- Two teams with subs, there's a change if there's a score.
- Each person defends a goal, there are five goals on each field, so there are also five people defending these goals.
- If a goal is scored in your goal, you have to sit on the side and switch.
- A new player (sub) enters the field from the side and defends the goal.
- If there's a goal, it's a point.
- The team with the most points at the end of the match is the winner.
- The exercises can be played in 2 variations: the one for real beginning hockey players (this exercise can be used for a clinic for example) and the one for beginning hockey players who have already been in contact with hockey.
- Variant 1:
- Player 1 plays the ball to player 2, he takes the ball and passes on to player 3.
- Player 3 takes the ball and shoots at goal.
- Player 4 tries to stop the ball with the bottom of the foot or with the stick.
- Player 4 picks up the ball and joins the row at the back of the starting pilon of player 1.
- For safety's sake, don't shoot at goal when player 4 takes the ball.
- The balls can also be taken out of the goal later on or use a break for that.
- This is for safety reasons.
open and closed receptions
- Number one calls "open" or "closed" and then plays the ball to number two.
- Number two comes running into the ball and takes it on according to what was called.
- Then number two calls "open" or "closed" and plays the ball to number three.
- Number three enters the ball and takes it on according to what was called again.
- Then number three runs over the back line into the circle and plays it at the head of the circle to number four.
- Number four finishes on target.
- Passing:
- push, slap, hit, overhead, running lob
- Receiving:
- FH: left hand forward, walk/run into the bal, open- closed control
- BH: receive with a high backhand run into direction of the ball
- Note: receive always on the move
- Defender plays the ball to the right back.
- Right half pulls in and right front goes deep.
- Defender gives a deep pass on the right front.
- Right front turns away and plays the ball back on the midfielder.
- Midfielder puts the ball back on the other central defender who comes in.
- Pass to left back and then perform the same exercise as over right.
- 3 persons stand at the pilons and try not to let the player in the middle touch the ball.
- It is important that the diagonal pass is not made possible.
- So the players without the ball have to stand in the corners compared to the player with the ball.
- Put out a square of 10 by 10 meters.
- A player is placed at 3 pilons.
- One pilon remains empty.
- The player with the ball plays to the pilon without a player.
- The player standing diagonally runs to the pilon and receives the ball. And so on.
- In this way, the next goal is reached:
- a lot of movement,
- playing while running
- take it in motion.
Game with different variations:
- with grip
- with globe
- with stick in weird position
- with other balls
- Player A plays the ball to Player B, who comes running into the ball.
- Player B bounces the ball directly back and runs towards the corner edge circle with a slalom through the gates.
- Player A runs towards the first pole to perform a tip in
Exercise is set up in the middle.Player A becomes player B and vice versa.
- The trainer (T) rolls the ball (1) to one of the four front players (for example A).
- Player A receiving the ball (2) plays a duel with player V1 opposite him.
- The goal is to score the ball at the opponent's goal.
- If V1 manages to intercept the ball, he plays it to V2.
- Now V2 may try to score with player B.
- After a goal, the form of play starts over again.
Making it easier
- Play a 1-1 duel on the two fields for a few minutes, after a goal, the substitute player comes into play.
Make it more difficult
- After the ball is taken by V1, V1 and V2 may try to score against player A (now it has become a 2-1 game).
- A has to defend.
- If A takes the ball, he plays it to player B.
- Player A and B play a 2-2 duel on players V1 and V2.
- Player 1 asks the ball in front of the pilons and receives the ball from player 3.
- At that moment player 2 grabs a ball and dribbles to the back line.
- Player 1 runs with his/her ball to the circle and finishes there.
- Then player 1 runs to the penaltyspot where he/she receives the ball from player 3.
- The ball is then finished on goal again.
- It works just like a normal game only now there's a square in the middle.
- If a shot or other foul is made, or if the ball has been out of bounds, the trainer throws/plays in a new ball from inside the square.
- The ball does not necessarily go to the same team or at the place where the foul was made.
- The size of the field depends on the number of players.
