Hockey drills for

  • Try to keep possession of the ball 1 v 1.
  • This forces the players to look for space and make feints.
  • Throw the ball from the center line and let it finish.
  • Technique exercise
  • 3 different actions we will refine and train further
  • Exercise at A: Two lift actions with at the last one an acceleration to the circle (also practice with backhand lift)
  • Exercise at B: Forehand turn them in steps to the left and from there turn them in the other direction and then accelerate towards the circle.
  • Exercise at C: Entry exercise to the left and accelerate and the other side along it.
  • They walk in the direction of the little v and step in with their left foot and let the ball go that way as well and bring it back and accelerate the other way and pull this acceleration through to the circle and then round it off.

  • Exercise expand on both sides
  • A gives a push to B
  • B takes the ball closed because defender D is in his back.
  • B accelerates dribbling with the ball on the stick along the pilons, D runs with B because he doesn't want B to go along.
  • D may try to conquer the ball when B has passed the pilons.
  • B wants to pass the ball to C. If D intercepts, he passes the ball to C so that the person can continue with the exercise.
  • If B gets the ball to C, C will do the same and the defender E will defend. If E picks up the ball, he can finish at the goal.
  • How to continue, A goes to the spot of B, B goes to the spot of D, D goes to the spot of C, C goes to the spot of E and E goes to the spot of A.
  • Tips for the attackers
    • Keep the ball close to you and screen it with your stick
    • Pass the ball over the backhand side of your opponent
    • Accelerate to make it harder for the defender to stop you
  • Tips for the defenders
    • Keep your stick on the ground, you can react much faster to what your opponent is doing
    • Keep your opponent on the forehand and make sure the line is closed!
    • Let the attacker make the mistake and then grab the pass.
    • Guide your opponent in the direction where you want him/her to go
drawing Block 1 exercise 2 closed control and succesfully dribbling an opponent
  • A starts with the ball
  • B presents himself to A
  • A gives a hard targeted pass to B
  • B takes the ball and makes a lift action and accelerates
  • B runs into the circle and gives a directed hard pass to C
  • C runs in and scores with a tip-in

drawing Part 4 exercise 1 lift action + tip-in
  • Each team has 5 inverted pylons to defend.
  • The pylons are on the line and the players may only stand/defend on their own half.
  • Which team knocks over the pylons of the other first.

team-versus-team

  • The children are placed in 2 rows.
  • The trainer stands just behind the 2 rows and rolls a ball forward.
  • The front 2 players try to conquer the ball.
  • The player in possession
  • drives the ball towards the goal.
  • The other tries to conquer the ball again.
  • From a marked point, the ball may not be taken away and the player in possession makes a shot at goal.

1-v-1

  1. defender 1 passes to attacker 1
  2. attacker 1 to attacker 2
  3. through pass from attacker 2 to attacker 1
  4. defender 1 defends on attacker 1 when he has received the through pass
  5. attacker 2 attacks > 2v1

2v1-throughball-from-the-sideline

  • The exercise is meant to simulate a game.
  • It is therefore intended that one team consists of the defenders/defending midfielders and the other team consists of the attackers.
  • The attackers can score in the normal goal (decide if they can hit high as in the game).
  • The defending side can score by driving the ball.
  • Over the line of the goals on the half way line.
  • The attackers learn to play over and finish at goal and the defending side learns to defend to the outside.

  • 3 persons stand at the pilons and try not to let the player in the middle touch the ball.
  • It is important that the diagonal pass is not made possible.
  • So the players without the ball have to stand in the corners compared to the player with the ball.
drawing 3 versus 1

Game with different variations:

  • with grip
  • with globe
  • with stick in weird position
  • with other balls

  • Player A runs left towards the pilon straight ahead and retrieves the ball so that the pilon is played out.
  • Then player A passes the ball deep on to player B, who runs in.
  • Player B puts the ball back to player A
  • Player A finishes.

Then player A does the task of player B and vice versa.

  • Player A plays the ball to Player B, who comes running into the ball.
  • Player B bounces the ball directly back and runs towards the corner edge circle with a slalom through the gates.
  • Player A runs towards the first pole to perform a tip in

Exercise is set up in the middle.Player A becomes player B and vice versa.
