Hockey drills for
- Split the group into two groups.
- First group is going to play ball possession with the goal of communicating with each other.
- Second group is going to do the exercise on goal.
- A starts with the ball who shoots the ball hard from the circle against the rebound board that is there.
- Attackers are going to try to finish that ball afterwards.
- Defenders are going to try to get the ball outside the circle. (preferably on the outside)
- Lumping 3 against 1
- Tips attackers:
- Pass speed high.
- Watching where you play to.
- Play easy ball.
- Tip defenders:
- Backhand side close.
- Stand between the pass lines.
- Waiting for mistakes from your opponents.
- Practice penalty corner attacking.
- Ball possession with start in 4 teams then increase the field and to 2 teams
- Tips:
- Pass over the opponent's backhand side and into the forehand of your teammate.
- Keeping man when you are not in possession of the ball.
- Communication with your teammates.
- Locking down an opponent with his 2nd.
- A 5 v 3.
- A shifts the ball to B, B shifts the ball to C.
- When C has controlled the ball the 5 against 3 begins.
- Tips attackers:
- Keep speed.
- Always return the ball.
- Pass over the backhand side of the opponent.
- Keep the field wide and long.
- Communicate with each other.
- Using in-out to receive the ball.
- Tips Defenders:
- Close the shaft.
- Close down pass lines to the front. (make sure they have to keep playing backwards)
- Communicate with each other.
- Keep them outside the circle. (when they come into the circle it is pressure on the ball)
- If it is too difficult for the defenders let a tackle back runner join in.
- A 3 v 2 with running lines set out, expanded to a 4 v 3.
- Red plays on white and then taps the other red pilon before getting into the ball and passing it wide to blue.
- Blue returns the ball to white who has run on and the three players play a 3 v 2 on orange.
- Can be extended to a 4 v 3 with an extra defender and attacker in the circle.
- 3 teams
- 2 goals on more than quarter field
- Team 1 and 2 start in the field, team 3 over the back line outside the field. Team 1 starts with goalie
- As soon as one of the teams scores, this team stays, the other team goes out and is replaced by the team on the side
- There is always a turn so that the strong team stands by the goalkeeper.
- Team 1 scores? Team 1 stays with the goalie, team 2 goes out and 3 comes in on the other side
- Team 2 scores? Team 1 out, Team 2 by the goalie and 3 in on the other side
- Teams always go in on the same side
- Alternate with shuttles in between
- 4v3 situation where trainer indicates to whom the ball should be played (left, right or centre) over two sides.
Situation on the left:
- Player plays into a teammate (red dots)
- Trainer calls left, right or central (variant white, red, blue)
- Depending on the trainer's instructions, L, R or C is played in;
- After this there is a 4:3 (white attacks and rose defends).
- After playing the ball red is allowed to defend immediately.
- Make sure that your left foot reaches the same height as the ball during your run-up
- You should place your foot about 30 cm away from the ball, so that you have enough space to place your stick near the ball
High tempo switching in a match form.
- 3 teams (blue, red & white);
- Each team consists of 3, 4 or 5 players;
- Attacking team (A) has 1 player in excess (so 3:2, 4:3 ...);
- One player of the defending team (B) stands in the box next to the trainer;
- Non-playing team (C) stands at the centre line;
- When A has scored, they defend with n-1 men;
- Team B sets up at the half way line and then attacks.

- defend the inside areas
- force them to go wide
- Center striker: responsible for the 2 center backs,
- start on 5 m and inside,
- when they pass wide close them to that side
- Left and right forward: responsible for the right and left back,
- defend the inside and force them to pass or walk down the line
- Mid: man to man marking
- Lm and Rm: man to man and when they force the player to walk down the line block them in a double with the forward
- Right back and left back: man to man marking and intercept when they pas down the line
- First pass wide
- players moves the ball inside other attacker move outside
- 2 options walking inside passing outside
- Player 1 runs with the ball to the head circle and hits the goal
- Player 4 plays the ball to the left where player 2 and defender 1 come running in (2v1)
- Player 4 plays the ball to the right where player 3 and defender 2 come running in (3v2)
- Player 4 runs with a ball into the circle and plays off the attack (4v2)
