Volleyball drills for
- field is divided in 2 parts
- on side 1 are 1 playmaker, the libero and the middle attackers
- on side 2 are the other players
- there are on each side 1 attacker and 1 blocker and a server.
- depending on the number of players there is 1 passer or 2 passers.
- the purpose of this exercise is to get in agreement with the distributor which ball you want to play.
- With the middle players we will practice on the 'rise' balls and other variations such as the 'neck'.
- Servers take turns serving:
- Servers start serving, defenders --> pass to SV (pass MUST be good)
- Defenders (3 in the field and 3 waiting) --> after each pass the player with the waiting room switches
- TR is on the 2/3 position and he decides to whom the point goes.
- A good serve is a point BUT if the defenders pass this serve better the point goes to the passers
Some variations on the well known butterfly...:
- Service-pass-catch on SU-position, running after the ball.
- As everyone is chasing his/her ball, each player has a different task, but if desired, a player can have a fixed position.
- Variation 1:
- The SU plays a set-up to position 4, where an attacker stands to play a (placed) attack on the receiver.
- The rotation then becomes: Service -passer -upper - attacker - off-side - service etc.
- Variation 2:
- the fixed SU plays a ball to a receiver 'somewhere' in the field, who makes himself known by calling 'here'.
- The SU learns to react on sound, the receiver learns to communicate his position.
- Variation 3:
- The fixed SU plays the pass backwards to position 2, where the receiver, after an attacking movement, catches the ball and starts serving.
- In the diagram is variation 1
Servicepass training for 4 to 12 persons4
persons:
2 servers at the servicepoint.
1 passer1
receiver
(dynamic) same as static but dancer plays ball on receiver. Passer plays to off-setter. (server becomes reserve, reserve becomes passer, passer becomes receiver etc.)
6 persons.
2 servers3
passers1
receiver
(static) see four persons
(dynamic) server serves the ball and runs after his/her ball.
Passer passes the ball to the receiver. The player on the right becomes the server and the server
moves in on the left. Catcher becomes server. If this does not work out 1 passer becomes reserve.
Extend with fixed sv and extra player on pos 4, who will attack. Passer becomes attacker, when pass is wrong the passer goes away.
Extend with blocking.
Hit to outside and middle
Daarna
Beside the playmaker, the other players execute a pass, an attack, and a service.
The exercise is as follows:
- 1 Player 1 throws a tight ball to player 7
- 2a player 7 passes the ball to the playmaker
- 2b player 1 walks to the other line and joins the back.
- 3 the playmaker gives a set up to player 6
- 4 player 6 smashes the ball to the mat
- 5 player 6 picks up his own ball
- 6 player 6 serves the ball to the other mat
- 7 player 6 picks up his own ball
- 8 player 6 joins the line
- This can also be done a middle attack
After 10 minutes, a block is added
- Serve --> defense/pass and 3-meter attack --> play out rally
- leave the SV on 1 side --> after x number of balls the SV moves to the other side
OR - Player in the waiting room, side of the field, and after each attack the most right player goes out.
- One moves up and the reserve player comes in from the left.
- Place 2 pawns at 6 meter distance
- Place 2 servers with ball cart also 6 meters away
- Place 1 ballcatcher by the cart and the other 2 by the pawns
Execution
- Give quiet services on the pawns 10 times and then change
- The 2 players at the pawns make sure the balls return
- The player at the ball cart makes sure the balls get in
1 SV which changes regularly.
1 fixed passer which changes regularly -if libero present, this passer will continue to pass-.
The rest will attack 52/C and MID
With more players:
- Multiple defenders.
- Blocking
- Instead of TR a player can pass the ball.
- On the side of the TR/ player setting up the ball put an extra player who puts the attacked ball in ball box and then goes to defend.
Defending - attacking - catching ball in ball box - defending.
- Have the players store against the wall.
- Pay attention to:
- Leg position.
- Ball in front of hitting hand.
- Swing arm well back.
- Strike with palm.
- Where it begins to succeed switch to volleyball and possibly have it saved over the net.
- 3 servers on one side of the net.
- 2 rows of the remaining players.
- From both rows 1 into the court. So a total of 2.
- Servers take turns serving.
- 2 players in the court pass the ball to the other player, who set the ball, 3rd ball over it.
- One always serves with a command and then runs after the ball.
- Players move from A to B, B to C and C to D, then start over again.
- Serving on the mat is 2 points, serving near the mat 1 point and serving incorrectly 1 point off.
- Service is made from position 5 on a pair; p/l & libero.
- After service, this person goes to defend at position 5.
- Side-out must be scored by attackers at position 3, 4 or 6.
- After the side-out, the coach hits balls from position 4 into the diagonal, which are defended by players at position 4, 5 and 6.
- From the defense again the attack must be scored. Rally is played out, after which everything starts again.
- Block shields position 1 and 2. After the pass/defense cover -don't do nothing-.
- Make good choices in game distribution.
- Efficiency training: 20 balls 10 x service & 10x defense.
- Serve from position 1, block at position 3 and 4. Shield position 4 and 5.
- Defending at position 1, 2, 5 and 6.
- Attacking at position 1, 3 and 6.
