Volleyball drills for technique defense / passing / digging / diving / reception

  • Coach throws from the net:
    • 3 players on the backline on their stomachs.
  • Trainer hits the ball,
  • 3 players stand up and trainer attacks/plays.
    • Nr. 1 of the trio defends,
    • No. 2 sets up and
    • No. 3 attacks
      • then next 3 team
  • 1, 2, and 3 start in the middle
  • C bounces the ball and the players move to their defensive positions.
  • C attacks one of the defenders.
  • after the defence, set-up and 3 meter attack
  • after 5 times a new 3

move-and-defend

  • A line-up of six players stand in the field.
  • On the other side stands the trainer, included if necessary.
  • Three players stand at the net with 1-2 balls and one server stands (this can also be the trainer).
  • The first ball is served and handled by the 6 players.
  • Where the attack is played, the person standing with the two balls at the net, throws the ball back over the net very quickly.
  • In this way the attacking cover is trained.
  • From this cover, all attackers must of course return as quickly as possible to give support.
  • A short run is important.
  • You will therefore be training a lot of blocking without actually blocking
  • Keep on blocking until the net players have run out of balls, until it is not safe or until they simply cannot play anymore.
  • Rotate through a position every so often so that side-out is trained on every position.
  • After throwing the ball, the net players should look back to make sure that the previous ball doesn't secretly roll back under the net.

Goal of the exercise:

  • Defending everything and getting the ball high inside the three-meter line

Explanation of the exercise:

  • This is a nice defensive drill to get into after the warm-up.
  • The trainer stands inside the 3-metre line.
  • There is a line of players at the back line.
  • The trainer throws, pokes or hits balls in all directions.
  • The person in front of the row has to defend the ball, in such a way that the ball ends up as close to the trainer as possible within the 3-metre line.
  • If this doesn't happen, that person goes to jail at the ball pit.
  • But if the person behind the one with the bad defending ball, manages to get the volleyball right to you as trainer, the first one is bought free and does not have to go to prison.
  • When people are in prison, they may only re-enter the field when the others have defended the ball twice without errors within the 3-metre line.
  • The players will help each other, even if one player makes a mistake that could be made better by another.
    • Tip: when using a high ball pit, the trainer will have the balls on the grip quicker.
  • groups of three
  • 1 field
  • one half of the field = winners side, other half = losers/neutrals side
  • the 4 corners of each field will be numbered from 1 to 4
  • on each half 1 group stands, the remaining group is a reserve
  • the group on the loser side can serve and there will be played a rally
  • Every time a player has touched the ball, he/she has to tap one of the 4 corners of his/her half. This must be done in numerical order.
  • So when the ball comes to the group in question for the first time, the person who does the first contact, taps corner number 1. The person who does the second contact, taps corner number 2 and the person who does the third contact, taps number 3.
  • The ball is passed over.
  • The ball returns to the side of the group in question, but now the person who makes the first contact must tap corner number 4. The person who does the second contact, must tap corner number 1 again and the person who does the third contact, must tap corner number 2. If the ball then comes over again we start tapping corner number 3.
  • You keep doing this until the rally is over.
  • If the group on the winner's side wins, they get to stay and get a point.
  • If they lose, they have to go back to the loser side.
  • If the group on the loser's side wins, they must move to the winner's side, but they still don't get a point.
  • If the group loses, they have to go back to the loser's side.
  • If necessary, an assignment can be given to the group that lost the rally.

1234-volleyball-

  • Two teams 1 ball
  • One does the underhand technique and the other pushes the ball against the arms.
  • Make sure they are sitting low. After 1 min change.
  • After 1 min swap and then show the falling technique.
  • Three teams two balls
    • 1 throws to 2 2 plays underhand to 1 and advances to 3
    • 3 throws to 2 2 plays underhand to 3 and advances to 1

private-2

variation on Kings Court: winners move to winners field, losers move out and 3 new players move in.

  • 3 players per half (whole field)
  • trainer puts 1st ball in field of new team
  • max 2 plays per half
  • no smashing, no jumping, no lobs
  • communication per team is a necessity
  • The whole field must be defended (is feasible).
  • balls coming from the other side are not hard but placed.
  • player1 throws in from behind the net:(3players)
    • 2 teams on the back line on the stomach
  • Player1 hits the ball, 2 players stand up and coach attacks one of the pair defends, nr. 2 sets up and nr. 3 attacks
    • after that next 2 team player1 with player 2 etc.

ON 1 FIELD:

  • groups of3/4/5
  • 2 groups per field
  • 1 group bats, after the serve the person who bats starts to run around the bases around the field (baseball)
  • the other group is on the opposite side: 3 persons defend, 1 person catches on position 3
  • the defenders have to get the ball to the receiver as soon as possible, when the receiver has the ball in his hands, he will call loudly stop and everybody has to stop walking
  • when the server lands in the net or the runners have not reached a base in time, they are out and must wait until the changeover to play again
  • when the server hits an ace, this is a homerun: the same goes for when the defenders punt the ball away
  • the catcher of the defending team must stand on a mat and may not leave the mat to catch the ball
  • when the attacking team has 3 players out, it is a change.
  • if you are playing with 3 people, the substitution takes place when 2 people are out, if you are playing with 5 people, the substitution takes place when 3 people are out.
  • 2 teams,
    • 1 with ball at the net,
    • 1 without ball on the backline flat on belly.
  • Attacker calls his name, defender defends the ball (underhand thrown ball)
    • Then short ball on 3 meter line.
    • change after 10 balls

Starting position is a formation with 4x4 players and the remaining players behind the back line of field A.

  • Trainer throws the ball into field A and they play the ball 3x over the net,
  • Field B defends and tries to return the ball in 3x,
  • If one of the teams scores a point, we rotate in pairs.
  • The back players of zone B leave the field and join the back line of field A.
  • The front players of B field become back players in B field,
  • the front players of field A become front players of field B, the back players of field A become front players of field B.
  • A new pair of players turns into field A and becomes the back players.
