Volleyball drills for technique defense / passing / digging / diving / reception
- Short explanation step 1 diving:
- Make a large step towards the ball. Pay attention the step has to be big and sideways, otherwise the knee is in the way.
- Same, but after the step you have to make a pass move and put your hands on the ground as a spring or cushion.
- idem, then glide on calmly by pushing off with feet and hands.
- Try with a small run
Lay the ball down in front of you, and during the pass move, grab the ball and throw it up
Try to fit a throw-in into the downward movement. Sliding through.
- Group split into two groups of 5, field divided into two halves'.
- on each side a bench on the back line with cones on it. (opposite sides)
- 3 players leave on the back line, 1 reserve, 1 service on other side of the field.
- A serve is given to the three players: reception - pass - touch over net.
- when the player has played the ball the players walk to the side where the bench is: reception - pass - hit to the cones
- Which team hits the most cones off the bench?
- 2 3-players in the field, each their own half.
- Trainer starts with smash.
- Team of 3 handles ball and plays out rally.
- Against the other team.
- After 10 points, 3 teams rotate.
- On one side you attack with three attackers, on the other side you defend.
- Trainer throws balls for the playmaker
Two teams each a ball.
- One person throws the ball overhead and the other person defends the ball.
- As soon as the one throws the ball the other throws the ball up for herself and defends the ball that is thrown and catches her own ball.
- Who can hit can hit.
how does a system work
Players take in pairs 1 ball
Player A stands 2 foot lengths from the curtain.
Player B stands 1 meter behind player A
- Player B hits the curtain
- Player A must keep the ball off the ground
Goal:
- Standing low
- Stand ready
- Expecting the ball
- Do not go for your favourite side
- Roll over if you can
- One player stands in the middle of the field,
- three/four players stand around it.
- These players must get the ball to the one player, making it as difficult as possible.
- Important technique is underhand/overhand and I-call.
- Coach is on top,
- 4 ladies on defense.
- Coach hits ball over net.
- The ladies only defend, the rest collect balls.
1. Players play ball over net to position 1, pass back.
2. Passer runs around 1st pawn for a second pass (turn in/arms tilt)
3. Passer runs around 2nd pawn and defends ball from trainer (smash or place ball) and retrieves ball and connects with players (A).
Rotation
:- pass to (A) over the net-
at position 2/3 pass to 2, catch ball and put it in ballcarrier-
passer 2x + defend and fetch ball-
pass to (A).
- Player A starts from a sitting position on a chair, slightly bent over.
- Player B throws the ball low.
- This is played back to A from the chair so shoulders are already forward and low.
- After the first ball turn around and sit on the chair just behind it, idem with player C who also throws a ball low.
- Passing and directed service practice, walk-through exercise, everyone runs after his ball, if you do not pass you stand, possibly expand the exercise by placing a playmaker on the 2/3 and have him give a setup backwards.
