Volleyball drills for

  • trainer throws ball to centre player
  • Who passes to SV
  • SV sets up
  • Attacker plays ball SLIM over the net
    • so right over the net
    • OR in the back of the field in the corners
  • OPTION: the new playmaker calls HOOP (=wrong) or GOOD (=good) after the smart ball of the attacker
  • Attacker gets the ball and puts it in the box at trainer
  • Everybody keeps rotating one spot (walks after own ball)
  • Possibly place hoops (= opponents) where theyshould not play
  • Keep giving directions
    • play-tactical
  • player 1 at net centre forward
  • number; players centre back with ball
  • line of players on left (or right) forward
  • 2 baskets as obstacle/block on other side of the net
  • 2 players as defense on the other side of the net
  • player with ball throws to centre forward
  • centre forward sets up HIGH
  • left forward attacks
  • if hitting does not work: play SMARTLY over the net
  • if ball hits the ground in the field you score a point
  • defenders try to prevent this.
  • everybody keeps rotating
    • throwers becomes playmaker
    • playmaker joins line of attacker
    • attacker goes underneath the net and becomes 1st defender
    • 2nd defender takes the ball, walks underneath the net and joins line of servers

Setup exercise:

  • Set up in normal position
  • Ball is played up to 3; he calls 'in front of back'
  • Attackers home
  • Trainer calls street or slide -inverted-
  • Player hits or tips the mat
On the other side of the net, the other players are lined up -in the picture it is 2 players- these have the ball cart and play the ball up, catch the attack and defend. The game is played on!

The goal is to look at the block setting and set it properly.
This can be accomplished by following the following steps:
  • TR hits L.
  • L gives pass on 2/3 run-in SV and set.
  • In base to position 3 and 4.
  • Possibly expand to position 2 and 6.

  • With ball along one side.
  • The other reception to the pass.
  • The pass catches.
  • Then make it a little harder by playing pass straight.

  • Per 2 income in the field
  • The TR stands along the other side and throws in a ball.
  • The 2 in the field build up and step aside for the next 2.

Trainer plays ball to 2-tal, they have to set up an attack together by themselves.

  • Watch how the 6-squad runs.
  • Mid-back/playmaker.
  • Do not run backwards, but towards the net, for a block, then block cover, then move other players along.
Trainer plays the ball from 2-squad to 6-squad.

  • Watch how the 6-some runs.
  • Mid-back and playmaker.
  • Move along to where the attack is coming, attack run.
System play out:
  • 6 setter stands in lineup and alternates among themselves.
  • Fixed 2 setters, at 4 change, at 3 fixed, at 2 fixed.
  • Fixed mid-back.
Everyone moves along, and everyone communicates; call loose, attack, call names.
  • Setter after set.
  • Passer after pass, backfield toward attack.
  • Backfield creeps behind attack, block coverage.
