Throwing and catching the ball on one leg

Objective
  • To improve balance and stability by passing the ball to each other while standing on one leg.
Setup
  • Players stand in pairs facing each other on the court.
  • Both players stand on one leg.
  • One player has a ball.
Execution
  • Player 1 throws the ball to Player 2.
  • Player 2 catches the ball and throws it back to Player 1.
  • Both the passer and the receiver remain on one leg while throwing and catching.
  • The coach determines the number of times the ball is passed back and forth.
Variations
  • Use different sizes of basketballs or other types of balls.
  • Change the distance between the players.
  • Vary the types of passes, such as chest pass or bounce pass.
Points of Attention
  • Ensure the feet are pointing straight forward and are slightly more than shoulder-width apart.
  • Distribute the weight over the balls of the feet, not on the toes.
  • Keep the heels on the ground.
  • Keep the knees bent.
  • Keep the back straight.
