Hockey drills
- defenders:
- 4 man build stretch the field and dare to play forward
- center mid; postion offset that means always be on the other side as the ball ( always help side )
- Lmid and Rmid: start small and not on the same hight, lead outside and get the ball on the line moving forward (help side mid open up)
- center stricker: start up high and make a lead into the ball when the LMid or Rmid is leading outside
- Left forward and right forward: lead outside and move back inside if you get the ball. if you dont get the bal lead forward and inside.
- Defender:
- central free defender moves into mid field, Left and right back come more inside
- center mid; move up a bit so the central defender has more space
- LM and Rm : open the field as wide as possible
- Center striker : connect with the CM mid or RM and LM
- Left and right forward: stretch the field
- Zone :
- if the opponent plays zone marking you can try to play inside or trow a high ball wide into space man to man:
- play inside drop and bite and go asap wide. look for the 2-1
- Defender:
- central free defender moves into mid field,
- Left and right back come more inside
- center mid; move up a bit so the central defender has more space
- LM and Rm : open the field as wide as possible
- Center striker : connect with the CM mid or RM and LM
- Left and right forward: stretch the field
- 5 man build is the same only difference is that the central mid is dropping in to the defense line
- Zone :
- if the opponent plays zone marking you can try to play inside or trow a high ball wide into space
- man to man:
- play inside drop and bite and go asap wide. look for the 2-1
- defense system
- defend man to man
- central free defender close the gaps
- everyone move to ball side
- center striker is responsible for the 2 central defenders all the other marking man to man
- full press:
- defend the inside areas
- force them to go wide
- center striker: responsible for the 2 center backs,
- start on 5 m and inside,
- when they pass wide close them to that side
- Left and right forward: responsible for the right and left back,
- defend the inside and force them to pass or walk down the line
- Mid: man to man marking
- Lm and Rm: man to man and when they force the player to walk down the line block them in a double with the forward
- Right back and left back: man to man marking and intercept when they pas down the line

- jab: take your stick in your left hand and poke the bal or close to the ball to put pressure on the bal.
- left food forward right food back
- move quick forward and back
- forse them to one side ( FH side)
- channel:
- pick up the speed of the attacker
- change body postion to force them outside
- follow the attacker and make a steal Fh or save backhand
- block tackle:
- step in to the bal
- sit low with your stick on forehand side
- mostly after jab you block tackle
- One ball per pair.
- Pairs are instructed to pass through as many gates as possible in 2 minutes.
- A gate is completed when you pass the ball three times.
Goal:
- Taking out over the side
- Build up over the flank
- Get to the back line and then pass to goal
Points of attention:
- Playing the ball into the forehand.
- Moving behind the ball.
- Player plays the ball hard through push 1 ==> 2 runs directly after her/his pass
- Flattens the ball hard over long distance 2 ==> 3
- Drives the ball to the back line and passes to 4
- Takes to round at pace on goal
- A runs around the pawns with the ball and pushes to B
- B passes to C
- C drives around the pawns into the circle and passes to B who has run into the circle
- Defender D comes into action B and C try to score
Option 1: Extra defender and A attacks with him.
- A pushes to B
- B passes to C
- C drives around the pawns into the circle
- C rounds on goal
Option 1: B runs into the circle and gets the ball from C and rounds on goal.
Option 2: additional player D stands at the second post and tips in.
- A plays the ball to B
- B plays the ball to C
- C plays the ball to D
- D dribbles into the circle and finishes on goal
- A plays the ball to B
- B plays the ball to C who has run up to the green pawns
- C runs along the pawn line and passes the ball to A who has run through to the circle
- A then finishes on goal
