Volleyball drills for technique passing / defense / reception

  • On one side you attack with three attackers, on the other side you defend.
  • Trainer throws balls for the playmaker
drawing Defence attack (line-up)
  • This exercise is designed to improve the touch of the young players in a playful and competitive way.
  • Make teams of 2 and they will stand on opposite sides of the net.
  • The first person starts to key the other when the ball arrives at the other, they should scoop the ball out of the air twice and key it back.
  • We do this in competition form to 10 points, the person who first has 10 points has won.

5 hoops distributed over the field:

  1. 1 in the corner at position 1
  2. 1 in the corner on position 5
  3. 1 in the corner on position 2

OR

A on pass:

  • Passing to right post - someone on position 5: himself passes to A - A passes and attacks

At the centre: someone stays on to pass the ball to the centre

  • The coach serves to the 3 passers in the backfield.
  • They pass the ball to the receiver (A).
  • The passer becomes receiver, receiver puts the ball back in the box and joins the waiting line (B).
  • The accent in these exercises is on standing still during the pass.
  • To be able to focus on this the trainer does not serve very difficult.
  • If it goes well you can start serving more difficult.

Ball War

  • Divide the group in 2
  • Give everyone a ball
  • At the signal of the trainer you roll your ball to the other side
  • Then you have to roll the balls back to your side
  • At the end of the game you have to make sure that there are as few balls on your side as possible

The emphasis here is on sitting low, which is useful for pass triangulation

  • The trainer hits the ball as a signal for the front 2 players to come into the field.
  • The trainer throws the ball over the net
  • 1 of the 2 passes the ball and the other catches it.

  • Possible extension by throwing harder and harder or playing in 3x over the net.
