Handballexercises for u8

  • 2 players versus 1 player.
  • Of the 2, 1 dribbles across to the other side and plays off the ball as a bounce.
  • That player dribbles back again with the ball.
  • Possibly with more players as a relay.
  • Limited space at the circle.
  • 1 v 1.
  • Try to get past the defender, moving quickly and turning away. Possibly pass and feint movement.
  • Explain what is and is not allowed in terms of defense.
    • Hands against shoulders.
    • Not from the side.
    • Do not hold arms.
    • Do not obstruct a broken player.
  • Dribble relay with large zigzag, mark with pawns.
  • Possibly add null-pass with markers.
  • Make zigzag well wide and sharp!
  • 2 benches with balls and pawns on them.
  • 2 teams on each side of the benches at about 5 meters.
  • Each team tries to throw off as many pawns and balls as possible.
  • The one with the most wins.
  • 2 benches facing each other in the playing field. On half of each bench a marker or ring in the middle of the bench.
  • There are 1 or 2 players on the bench.
  • Players must overplay to get the ball to the tower = player on the bench.
  • Note; the tower can only be played with a bounce!
Materials:
  • All players have a ball.
  • 3 mats behind.
  • One goal.
Exercise:
  • Players step through a 3 pass; left-right-left, across the mats and then finish with shot.
  • Note correct shot posture:
    • Correct leg forward - right-handed left, left-handed right-.
    • Arm high and elbow above shoulder.

  • Set up 4 benches 1.5 - 2 meters apart.
  • All players a ball.
  1. Make a 3 pass: left-right jump and land on the bench.
  2. Do this toward each bench.

  1. Players line up in groups of 3.
  2. Player in the middle is the loafer and tries to intercept the ball.
  3. The other 2 may try to make space between the pawns for the pass.
Points of attention:
  • Proper throwing technique.
  • Hands ready to catch.
  • No arc balls.
  • Running free, making sure you respond to the loafer.

  1. All players grab a ball and line up next to each other.
  2. The trainer stands with ball in front of it.
  3. The players follow the trainer dribbling as a mirror image. If the trainer goes forward then they go backward, if the trainer goes left then they go right, and so on.
Variation:
  • Trainer raises number of fingers and players call out how many; looking over the ball.
  • Sit down while dribbling and stand up again.
  • Lie down while dribbling and get up again.
  • Turn ball around waist.
  • Dribbling between the legs.

  • All players line up about 1 arm's length away and with their legs wide.
  • The 1st player rolls the ball between the legs of the rest to the last player.
  • Then everyone lies down flat and the last player with ball jumps over everyone.
  • When the player is in front, everyone stands up again with their legs wide and the player rolls the ball backwards.

  • This can also be done with 2 teams in match form. Who has all the players forward the fastest?

Setup:
  • 4 benches in a 4-sided against each other.
  • 1-2 players inside the cage - 4 benches- with 10 balls.
  • 4-6 players outside the cage with 10 balls.
Execution:
  • The players inside the cage try to throw all the balls out of the cage.
  • They are not allowed to throw the ball until they step outside the cage.
  • The other players try to get all the balls into the bin.
  • They do this by running/dribbling there and putting the ball in the cage so do not throw it.
  • The one who has the fewest balls after 1 minute wins.

  • A square is made with 4 pawns.
  • The players stand inside this square and must keep balls thrown into it moving.
  • Note the players must work well together because they may only touch a ball once and then move on to another ball.
