Hockey drills

  • defenders: 
    • 4 man build stretch the field and dare to play forward 
    • center mid; postion offset that means always be on the other side as the ball ( always help side ) 
    • Lmid and Rmid: start small and not on the same hight, lead outside and get the ball on the line moving forward (help side mid open up)
    • center stricker: start up high and make a lead into the ball when the LMid or Rmid is leading outside 
    • Left forward and right forward: lead outside and move back inside if you get the ball. if you dont get the bal lead forward and inside.

  • Defender: 
    • central free defender moves into mid field, Left and right back  come more inside 
    • center mid; move up a bit so the central defender has more space 
    • LM and Rm : open the field as wide as possible 
    • Center striker : connect with the CM mid or RM and LM
    • Left and right forward: stretch the field 
  • Zone : 
    • if the opponent plays zone marking you can try to play inside or trow a high ball wide into space man to man:
    • play inside drop and bite and go asap wide. look for the 2-1

  • Defender: 
    • central free defender moves into mid field, 
    • Left and right back  come more inside 
    • center mid; move up a bit so the central defender has more space 
    • LM and Rm : open the field as wide as possible

    • Left and right forward: stretch the field 
    • 5 man build is the same only difference is that the central mid is dropping in to the defense line 
  • Zone : 
    • if the opponent plays zone marking you can try to play inside or trow a high ball wide into space 
    • man to man:
      • play inside drop and bite and go asap wide. look for the 2-1

  • defense system
    • defend man to man 
    • central free defender close the gaps 
    • everyone move to ball side 
    • center striker is responsible for the 2 central defenders all the other marking man to man

  • jab: take your stick in your left hand and poke the bal or close to the ball to put pressure on the bal. 
    • left food forward right food back
    • move quick forward and back 
    • forse them to one side ( FH side)
  • channel:
    • pick up the speed of the attacker 
    • change body postion to force them outside 
    • follow the attacker and make a steal Fh or save backhand 
  • block tackle:
  • step in to the bal 
  • sit low with your stick on forehand side 
  • mostly after jab you block tackle

  • A runs around the pawns with the ball and pushes to B
  • B passes to C
  • C drives around the pawns into the circle and passes to B who has run into the circle
  • Defender D comes into action B and C try to score
Option 1: Extra defender and A attacks with him.

  • A pushes to B

  • C rounds on goal
Option 1: B runs into the circle and gets the ball from C and rounds on goal.

Option 2: additional player D stands at the second post and tips in.

  • A starts with the ball
  • B runs in and gets the ball from A
  • B takes the ball strongly and turns away past the pawns. Keep the ball on the stick.
  • C runs in and takes the ball strongly.
  • B runs through and gets the ball back from C. This may be a rebound as long as it is hard and clean.

With 3 players run up, pass and finish.

  • Blue passes to red, runs after ball and connects behind red.
  • Red passes to white, runs after ball and connects behind white.
  • White passes to blue, runs behind ball and connects behind blue.
  • And so on.
  • The one with the ball on the edge of the circle rounds off.

  • We run as a team from one sideline to the other which is on the other side. 
    • When we get there we jog back as a team and then jog up and down again.
  • We divide the group into two equal groups. 
    • So that we can perform the warm-up a bit faster
  • We jog to the first pilon there you run backwards back to your starting position. 
    • Then you jog to the second pilon, when you get there you go back to the first pilon.
    • Until you reach the end of the jog you go back to the first pilon twice.
  • Knee lift to the pilon
    • heels to buttocks to the next pilon
    • Then lift knee again 
    • The last one is again heel to buttocks 2x
  • You start waving your arm forward to the end of the line, back with your right arm.
  • Now you're going to swing two arms forward to the end of the line, back with your arms backwards. 
  • We jog to the second pilon from there and accelerate with a sideways pass to the pilon on your left or right. 
    • Once there you accelerate again with a forward motion to the pilon in front of you. 2x
  • The last one is that we will sprint, you jump 3 times in the light and then perform a constructive sprint to the center of the field or the indicated pilon. 2x
  • After this we take a short time to stretch the muscles.

  • Use pilons to set up two squares 
  • Around the dotted head circle (left and right next to/opposite the goal) 
drawing Dribbling passing shooting 1 vs 1 at goal with condition
  • Put out the pilons as shown in figure three, distribute the balls over pilons C and D.
  • In this exercise you place one player each at pilons C and D, the rest of the team will line up at pilon A. 
  • From A the player runs around the pilon, from the pilon the player makes a sideways movement facing the ball (facing C). 
  • Player C plays the ball in the forehand of A, A takes the ball and opens to the right, runs towards the circle and finishes at goal.
  • From here, he runs towards D and receives another ball.
  • The player spins open to the left and finishes on goal again.
