Hockey drills

  • The exercise is done along two sides.
  • Start with a dribble, push the ball and then run to the head of the circle, get the ball back and finish.
drawing Give and go
This exercise is designed to practice the basics of pushing, accepting and finishing.
drawing passes and assumptions
3 teams start on whistle:
  • Float to the first jar
  • Turn around the potty
  • Return to starting potty and turn around there as well
  • Repeat for each pot
  • When they have gone around all the pots they pass the ball to the next one
  • Try to be as fast as possible
Alternatives:
Already dribbling to the pots, bra float, with one hand.

drawing Relay warm up
  • Player stands in the middle
  • Player is played on
  • Player spins out
  • Player passes to the opposite side
  • Repetition of the above steps
  • After a number of minutes the game is switched
drawing Pass in the turn
  • First dribble, push into the run.
  • Player comes in and spins out and then returns a push into the run.
  • Player comes back in and does two dribbles and then finishes on goal.
drawing Dribbles and acquisitions
Red player starts with the ball and begins drifting to the next pot and then pushes the ball to the blue player.
The blue player takes open around the pot and then also drifts to the next pot and then pushes to red again!

  • T: Give as many passes as possible within 1 minute.
  • R: /
  • A: Making the square bigger
  • D: Passive defender
drawing Assumptions and push in a square
Attackers: players 1, 2 and 3
Defenders: player A, B and C

  • All other players divide in line behind the defenders.
  • Player A starts the game and plays one of the attackers.
After each interruption such as shoot, ball out of the circle or goal, the defenders become attackers and new defenders come in from rows A,B and C.
Play starts immediately after the defender brings in a new ball to 1 of the attackers.

  • The attackers join the back of rows A,B and C. Do not run through the game.
  • Short attacks of up to 1 minute at high intensity.
Notes:
  • Direct pressure to prevent hard ball on goal.
  • Road to goal closed.
  • Recognize where the danger is; free player.
  • Do not give space in the circle.
  • Taking away does not always have to be done, keeping path to goal closed is.
  • Defenders benefit from quickly passing the ball to the first attacker who is ready.
drawing 3 vs 3 switching and putting pressure
Two exercises simultaneously. Note; only on goal if you have eye contact with goalkeeper.

Left:
  • A plays to B. B back to A.
  • B takes strong attack, turns over forehand, or backhand into circle and finishes on goal
Right:
  • C plays to D.
  • D plays back to C
  • D in banana towards circle
  • C passes into space around edge of circle
Attention:
  • Timing running action and timing pass
  • Speed in the exercise and tight passing
Making it more difficult:
  • Using defender. Shine defending.
drawing Impact and timing
Sprint around the pawns, always via the middle pawn.

there is 1 ticker and the rest have to try to grab the stretcher and eventually the tennis ball along 2 sides of the square if the ticker ticks you you have to put the stretcher back and try again
- you can also make it increasingly difficult or easier
e.g.: the one who is tapped out of game or make bigger square
1) the player jumps over the fence and then jumps from where she stands with 1 leg into the hoop and back for the next fence
so on until the end
2) you jump sideways over the fence and then jump with 1 leg into the 2 hoops, are you at the outer hoop you jump over the hoop back next to the fence.
3) you jump over one fence sideways and back with 1 big step you jump to the other fence and jump back over it and back and then sprint to the little pawn.
then over the ladder.
Warm up exercise in relay form

  • Divide the players into groups of 2 or 3 players and place them on the left side of the field.
  • Give each player a tennis ball.
  • At the start sign, the 1st player of each group starts running to the other, right, side with a ball.
  • Once there, they put the ball outside the line and run back as fast as they can so that player 2 of their group can start running with his/her ball.
  • When all the balls are on the right side and the last player has returned to his/her group, it is over.
  • The first one back to his/her group wins.
