Assignments for 3 teams: always take turns taking chances

  • Together score 9 go-arounds in a row.
    • In pairs make 6 go-arounds.
  • Together score 6 run-throughs in a row.
    • Basket from 2 to 4.
  • Together score 6 run-throughs, then together score 4 shots from movement from about 6 feet. Switch through after 2 shots.
    • Basket from 2 first together, score 4 through runners, then score together 4 shots from motion from about 4 meters behind the basket, change after 3 shots.
  • First each score 1 through runner, then each score 2 penalty throws.
    • At basket of 2, someone scores 2 follow-throughs.
  • First each score 1 follow-through, then each score 4 short chances under the basket.
    • At basket of 2, someone scores 2 through runners, and then each scores 6 short chances.
  • Player A starts with the ball 2.5 meters diagonally in front of the post. Player B also stands 2.5 meters diagonally in front of the post.
  • Player A throws the ball to player B and player B throws it back. Thus they bring the ball up to about 8 meters in front of the post.
  • From there, player B starts for a through ball from the space indicated by player A.
  • However, instead of player B taking the through ball, it now enters the declarer and player A comes in for a clearance ball. Player B catches the ball.
A variation on this:
Only throw the ball when player B runs next to/behind the basket and player B immediately makes a shot. Player A immediately runs in to catch the ball.

There are more variations on this, such as:
  • Most goals in a time frame of, say, 10 minutes
  • Who scores 10 goals first
  • Make it more difficult by deducting a point for each ball on the ground.
  • Possibly with a 3rd player to rotate and keep a slightly slower pace.

drawing Shooting from space
Line up Y shape
  • In front throw ball over.
  • The one behind the post chooses a side.
  • Gets the ball -> throws it back to the one who comes connected.
  • The one who did not throw the ball comes for support.
  • Ball is played in.
  • Action and shot.
drawing Y shape attack
  • Per 2 or 3 players.
  • Timing is important.
  • Work with fixed function.

  • Per 3 players:
    • Player Blue is the declarer/ rebounder.
    • Player Red takes a through ball.
    • Player White makes sure that at the right moment, after the rebound the action for the shot is started.
      • Step away in time or swerve from the opponent.
    • Then the player Red, who has dodged away again, also drops in at the right moment.
    • Change after 10 actions of the shooters.
      • Runner goes to rebound.
      • Shooter goes through,
      • Rebounder becomes shooter.
      • Each 2x all functions.
  • Per 2 players:
    • Taker catches the ball.
    • Operator keeps moving and after the catch makes a fierce move to get free for the shot.
    • After catch, the ball is passed to the shooter again and the player under the basket goes out again.
    • Ball is played to the off shooter who plays the ball right back and goes in for the through ball.
    • Change functions after 10 chances - 2x.

  • Child walks with ball on 1 hand, 2nd hand should be on back.
  • Then as fast as possible from one side of the field to the other.
  • If you drop the ball you have to start over.
  • Whoever reaches the other side first without dropping the ball gets a point.
This can be made more difficult by giving a larger ball.
  • Games 4 against 4
  • Defensive good pre-defending
  • Offensive high ball tempo; do not hold ball longer than 5 seconds, otherwise ball is for opponent.
  • In the end try to play 1 minute.

Any number of pips on the die is an exercise. Work in pairs or 3-pairs if necessary.

  1. Series of 5 penalty throws.
  2. 10 squats with medicin ball and 20 x overthrows at 5 meters.
  3. 15 walk-through balls.
  4. 5 envelope runs 20x middle pawn.
  5. 15x scoring 4 meters.
  6. 10x scoring >6 meters.
Play 4:4 with the trained drills alternating back and forth.

  • The team that scores takes a free throw after a goal.
  • If you score the free throw, you also take a penalty throw.
  • If you score everything, you continue.
  • After 3 interceptions, there is a change of positions.
1 attacker, 1 attacker and 1 rebounder: (with 2 without rebounder)

Always work alternately left + right laterally.

This assignment consists of 2 parts:

  1. Passer with ball under the basket, attacker makes lateral run and gets the ball on the outside:
    1. Spin the ball around your body and replay to the declarer who brings a new support active (at 3-player, the rebounder comes in as the new declarer)
    2. Take a walkthrough ball
    3. Pass through for a shot opportunity behind the basket
  2. Attacker with ball under the basket, attacker makes lateral run and gets the ball on the outside:
    1. Throw the ball behind your body over your shoulder and catch it again, pass to the attacker who brings a new support into play (in case of a triple, the rebounder becomes the new attacker).
    2. Go via an evasive move to the shot and then fall in.
    3. Inside-action is not played on, but starts in the backfield
    4. Instead of shooting, you bring the ball around your body, pass to the attacker again and make a through ball
  • This exercise is designed to let the players choose for themselves what they want to improve on.
  • Which (improvement) goal, which they have set for themselves, do they want to improve here.
  • As a trainer you can steer this by guiding the choice.
  • For example: the exercise must have something to do with passing/shooting/attacking/looking etc.
  • Divide the team into 2 equal groups
  • 4 poles
  • Per group 2 poles to defend
  • May score on the 2 poles of the other group
Per 2 or 3
:Timing is important. Work with fixed function

  • Per 3
    • Player blue is the attacker, player red is going to take a pass, player white makes sure that the action for the shot is started at the right moment.
    • Then player red is going to attack again at the right moment.
    • Change after 10 actions
  • By 2
    • Run through ball is caught by the player, the ball goes out to be shot.
    • After catching the rebound, the ball is passed to the shooter again, and the player under the basket goes out again.
    • The ball is played laterally, and support for the through ball is called again.
    • Change function after 7 chances (2x).
