Korfballexercises for technique rebound
You stand in pairs on a pole
- 1 in front of basket at shot distance
- 1 player is rebounder/forward
The rebounder gives a pass to the attacker standing at shot distance.
- if the rebounder can catch the ball without it colliding he may shoot
- if the ball bounces first, the shooter can continue playing
- this way all players play against each other to score 5 points for the fastest score.
3 per basket
- 1 shooter and 2 rebounders behind or to the side of the basket at 3 or 4 meters depending on level
- Of the 2 rebounders, 1 is attacker, 1 is defender: the one closest to the basket is the defender
- Shooter in front of the basket calls "yes", at that moment both rebounders may move towards the basket to take the correct position.
- 5 rounds, then switch positions.
Points of attention:
Pay attention to lining up attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Pay attention to lining up attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Variations:
- The one with the most rebounds starts shooting.
- Shooter goes to intercept and may pass to offensive rebounder for short chance if shot is wrong
3-counts per pole. Rebound, follow-through, shooter.
- The shooter gets the ball played to her and shoots from about 6 yards out on motion
- As soon as the passer thinks the ball can be caught, she goes for the breakthrough and takes a through ball
- After the follow-through ball, the shooter, keeping her player busy, i.e. on the move, is played to and shoots
- As soon as the passer thinks the ball can be caught, she goes for the breakthrough and takes a follow-through ball
- After 3 shots, there is a change of positions - shooter becomes rebounder, rebounder becomes passer and passer becomes shooter.
- Which 3-team scores 25x first?
- Divide into two teams.
- Make two boxes around the basket so that good shots can be made from outside.
- Need 3 or 4 balls per game.
- Shooters stand outside the box and one rebounder per team stands in the box near the opponent's shooters.
Exercise:
- The shooters start shooting from outside the box to get to X number of goals as fast as possible.
- The rebounders catch the ball and play it to their fellow players in the other box.
- Which team will have scored X number of goals first.
Rules:
- Rebounders are not allowed outside the box, shooters not in it.
- The rebounder's job is to estimate as quickly as possible where all the balls are coming and how to get them to your teammates as quickly as possible.
- Player 3 picks up the ball and throws it to player 1.
- Player 3 runs to the post.
- Player 4 goes over block, player 3 to the pointer.
- Player 1 throws the ball to player 2.
- Player 2 throws the ball to player 3 who enters the give way.
- Player 3 dodges and gets the ball moving, behind the post, and shoots.
- Player 4 connects, next to player 3.
- Player 1 runs to the front of the post and keeps the player engaged until shot.
- Player 2 takes player 1's position and after the shot goes to the post for the double-catch, ball over the basket.
Setup:
- 1 basket in oval, with a basket directly opposite at 8 meters.
- 1 Player in front of the basket with ball.
- 2 Players behind the basket just outside the oval.
- During the exercise pay attention to shooting technique.
- The others wait at the side - maximum 3 players.
Variation 1:
- Player 1 takes shot.
- Players behind the basket take running Rebound.
- The Player who has the Rebound becomes shooter.
- The Player who lost the Rebound duel now enters the rebound duel with the next player from the queue.
- The shooter joins the queue.
Variant 2:
- Same as Variation 1, but the Player who has the Rebound takes a short chance.
Variant 3:
- Same as Variation 1, but the Rebounders now try to score a goal in the basket opposite. The Shooter becomes a defender.
Variant 4:
- Same as Variant 3, but with maximum 1 or 2 passes towards the basket opposite.
- There is a support with defender.
- The attacker with defender comes to solve for the catch.
- Once she puts the lady next to the support to turn around it:
- Turns the one with speed around the support.
- Does not stand still to take the catch.
- Instead goes to the side.
- Gets the ball and shoots.
- Everyone stands at his/her pawn 5 meters from the basket.
- One player has the ball and shoots.
- The others engage in the rebound duel-the shooter, too, if necessary.
- Whoever has the ball then gets to shoot.
- Who has X goals first?
- With 3-pairs at a basket.
- 1 shooter and 2 catchers.
- The receivers compete with each other to be the first to catch the ball.
- Whoever catches the ball first 3 times gets to switch with the shooter.
- The shooter stands at 6 / 7 meters
- The catcher stands near the post.
- We switch positions when the ball has been caught 3 times in a row without the ball touching the ground.
In this exercise it is hugely important;
- That the rebounder also continuously drops the ball quickly because 1 attacker starts at 6 or 7 meters with a dodge ball and immediately comes in for the through ball.
- Then a shot behind the post and then a shot to the side.
- Player A starts with the ball 2.5 meters diagonally in front of the post. Player B also stands 2.5 meters diagonally in front of the post.
- Player A throws the ball to player B and player B throws it back. Thus they bring the ball up to about 8 meters in front of the post.
- From there, player B starts for a through ball from the space indicated by player A.
- However, instead of player B taking the through ball, it now enters the declarer and player A comes in for a clearance ball. Player B catches the ball.
A variation on this:
Only throw the ball when player B runs next to/behind the basket and player B immediately makes a shot. Player A immediately runs in to catch the ball.
Only throw the ball when player B runs next to/behind the basket and player B immediately makes a shot. Player A immediately runs in to catch the ball.
There are more variations on this, such as:
- Most goals in a time frame of, say, 10 minutes
- Who scores 10 goals first
- Make it more difficult by deducting a point for each ball on the ground.
- Possibly with a 3rd player to rotate and keep a slightly slower pace.
