Volleyball drills

  • Play a game of volley tennis against each other.
  • At lower levels the ball is allowed to bounce once, at higher levels it can be played in one go.
  • As soon as you lose a point you have to run circles around the court.
  • Until 2 remain, these play a final.

  • The attack is from the outside.
  • The intention is to attack in the direction of the mats.
  • It's also possible to jump in the hoops.
  • Players come in from position 1.

  • The players are in pairs, one player on each side of the net.
  • Both players have a ball.
  • One player throws the ball underarms with outstretched arms over the net and the other rolls the ball under the net to the other side.
  • Extension: play a key to catch the ball and roll it under the net again.
  • Catch the ball with a key and roll it to the opposite side of the net.
  • You can extend this exercise and make it more difficult.

  • Player A starts from a sitting position on a chair, slightly bent over.
  • Player B throws the ball low.
  • This is played back to A from the chair so shoulders are already forward and low.
  • After the first ball turn around and sit on the chair just behind it, idem with player C who also throws a ball low.

  • 4 Swedish benches are placed in a square.
  • A maximum of balls are placed in the square.
  • 2 or 3 players stand in the square and try to throw as many balls as possible out of the square during one minute.
  • The other players of the team run after the balls and throw them back into the square.
  • After one minute the team checks how many balls are still in the square.
  • Passing and directed service practice, walk-through exercise, everyone runs after his ball, if you do not pass you stand, possibly expand the exercise by placing a playmaker on the 2/3 and have him give a setup backwards.

  • Throws ball to pos 5. Building up attack, then covering.
  • T throws short ball to one of the players.
  • Set up attack again and cover.
  • Turn 1 place.
  • Attacker left gets 2 balls.
  • One in the coach's basket, joining the queue with the other ball.

  • Building up attack, then covering.

  • divide into 2 groups of 5
  • 1 player on each side on position 5
  • 1 player under the basket
  • the ball is thrown over the net and the passer plays the ball into the basket.
  • after that you join the group on your own side of the net.
  • extension with on 1 side the playmaker who plays the balls backwards after which the attacker hits the passer.

  • Three defenders at the back line.
  • One at the net trainer with balls on the other side of the net.
  • The trainer also has a ball retriever.
  • First catch and throw the ball to the person at the net and then run to the back line.
  • After every five balls play underhand to the person at the net.
  • Change after five times.
  • Two teams one ball
  • Everyone of the two teams sit low at one side of the net then play the ball under the net and move sideways to the other side of the net.

Player stands on pos. 6

Trainer plays 10 balls from 2 or 4 towards the player. She has to pass the ball to the receiver on position 3. The rest collects balls. After 10 balls change.

  • When everyone has been out, trainer throws more difficult balls.
  • When everybody is out, trainer throws more difficult balls on 5/6/1, so player has to move.
  • When everyone is dead, trainer smashes 10 balls on position.
