Volleyball drills for technique block / net defense
- Player saves
- Reception is made --> pass given
- Attack --> block/ defense
- Turn through --> block stays for a moment (service - 1 - 6 - 5 - (reserve) - 4 - service)
3 players in front of the net in positions 2-3-4.
The trainer hits the ball and the players have to decide if they want to block the ball and if so where.
- the ball should be blocked and if so where. So the midfielder moves to the relevant side and the non-blocking front player moves back.
- The ball comes up high and must therefore be defended. The players all move backwards except the sv
Extend this by including the 3 players at the back.
2 groups start at the back line of each field, half spread over the whole length, pairs (per large).
- VW walk to the net, through the net with 2 hands to partner; VW walk to the backline. 6x
- VW walk to net, jump and clap hands above net; AW walk to backline. 6x
- VW walk and lift heels to net, jump and clap hands above net; VW walk and lift knees. 6x
- ZW low pull-up passes, quarter turn and jump with hands above net. 6x
- Learning the block without moving, without net with attention on hand placement.
- Per 2 (same size), 1 ball
- 1 person on bench with ball above head.
- Person 2 opposite person 1. Block jump with hands to ball

- Team in line up in field A. In field B 3 blockers and 3 serves.
- Team B serves on team A who come to attack.
- Blockers try to block. Time change.
- You divide your players into 2 pairs.
- Per pair 1 ball
- One of the pair is standing at the net to make a block.
- The other player stands on the opposite side of the net with a ball. The player stands on the three-metre line and throws the ball just over the net.
- The player at the net making the block tries to block the ball.
- 10 balls and then switch tasks.
- 2 players stand up on bench or cupboard
- 1 playmaker
- 1 attacker
- 4 defenders
- Coach throws ball to defenders,
- who play to sv,
- sv plays on attacker,
- attacker hits ball in the block,
- defenders make sure they are under the ball.
- Play out rally

- trainer throws/serves the ball over the net to the 2 passers.
- after having called loose, pass the ball to sv on 2/3

- someone on the other side of the net tries to block and otherwise retrieve the ball
- move up one spot at a time
Purpose
To stretch the shoulder and upper back muscles in preparation for the blocking movement.
Organisation
Repetitions: 3series of 5 repetitions. Take a few moments of rest between the series.
Execution
- Stand at some distance from the net with your face to the net.
- Place your hands diagonally above your head in the blocking position.
- Make controlled blocking movements towards the net at a calm pace. Make yourself as long as possible without jumping.
- Do this 5 times.
Do a total of 3 series of 5 repetitions. In between the series, take a few moments of rest.
* You divide your players into 2 pairs.
* Each pair 1 ball
* Each on a side of the net
* 1 player throws the ball up over the netband, both try to block the ball.
20 balls and then switch tasks.
* Now 1 block the other may shoot
- row of attackers and 2 blockers at the other side at the net
- Trainer throws the ball to the attacker from the side of the block.
- Attacker hits ball into the block
- Attacker gets the ball, connect behind your own line.
- After 3 attacks change with the block.
