Volleyballexercises for technique setting / overarm technique

  • Player A throws/hits ball towards player C
  • Player C passes the ball towards player B.
  • Player B sets up the ball.
  • Player C attacks.

Goal: 1st series balls straight, 2nd series balls diagonally.

Walking line: A joins back of line C, B keeps hitting balls, C joins back line A.

directed-attack-straight-diagonally

  • Line of players A  (+- 4 players) in the middle of the field with a ball
  • Player 1 is center forward, and is properly thrown to by first player from line A
  • Player 1 plays ball overarm in the basket
    • bend elbows
    • stretch elbows and point after ball
  • Player at the basket catches and joins line A

With this exercise, younger children can practice overarm throwing.

  1. Give everybody a ball and have them show how they play overarm
  2. Is this not correct (for example, no pizza slice, or under the head), correct them, show how it has to be done.
  3. Have them throw against the wall, this provides lots of ball contact.
  4. Make pairs and have them throw over the net, to learn them to play high.
  5. Meanwhile, correct technique mistakes, but stay positive.
  6. Ask afterwards what they have learned, to make them think about it again.
  • every kid takes a ball and stands as close to the wall as possible.
    • Try to play the ball against the wall as often (and as fast) as possible
  • per pair 1 ball.
    • The one person (1) keeps the ball in front of him with stretched arms
    • the other stands before him,
    • bends the knees
    • and tries to play the ball out of the hands of person 1
  • someone is one the chest with a hoop
    • the sv receives the ball from the back field.
    • Then play the ball overarm through the hoop

cones-of-the-bench

  • Player A throws the ball over the net.
  • Player B or C passes the ball over the net.
  • The other player quickly runs underneath the net, and sets up for the same player that passed.
  • This player tries to hit a cone from the bench with overarm player or a hitting movement.

Which pair or which team has hit the most cones from the bench after an X number of minutes?

To make sure that players learn to play in a rhythm, the ball has to be under way for 2 seconds each time (21-22).

  • All players will try to play synchronously at the same time.
  • This starts with overarm.
  • The next form is that the player in the back field is going to play underhand and the player on the net overarm.
  • In this way it can be extended.

he most important thing is that the players keep the ball in the air for 2 counts.

ribbon-pass-2-

Divide over 3m line. Throw ball in zig-zag pattern and follow. See picture.
Later, play underhand, only overarm. One side of the net underhand, other side overarm.

  • The players are lined up in two lines on both sides of the net
  • The front two players play the ball overarm over the net
  • They move to the next line, play overarm again, and move along the net while playing.
  • Then the next two, etc
  • Then they make two lines at the middle of the net, play overarm, and then make a block jump in the middle, and join at the back, etc.
  • Then overarm and a block jump to the outside
  • first explain technique (heart shape, 10 fingers playing the ball)
  • pairs, only play overarm, begin with catching throwing.
  • slowly expand to short contact
  • distance not too long and concentration.
  • pay close attention to fingers in heart shape and playing with 10 fingers
  • it is about the success experience,

attack-at-right-forward-middle-and-outside

-1 defender starts behind the end line
- C plays high ball in the field
- 1 comes in and plays overarm to S
- S sets up backwards to 4
- Attack through the middle, attacker gets the ball
- 1 will be attacker, and 2 will be defender
VARIATION: with block,

Then with middle attackers and then with outside attackers

Explanation of the exercise:

  • The players make pairs.
  • Each pair has 1 ball.
  • 1 player of the pair plays the ball overarm over the net.
  • The other one catches. Alternatingly.

XL Challenge:

  • Add a second ball.
  • As soon as a player has played the ball overarm over the net, the other play throws the ball underhand over the net.
  • You can make it even more difficult by playing both the balls overarm.

Pass and overarm exercise

  • Player A and A1 have the ball.
  • This player throws the ball to player B/B1
  • Player B/B1 passes the ball back 'perfectly'
  • Player A/A1 then plays the ball in the basket.
  • Player A/A1 picks up the ball and joins the back of the line. You follow your ball

The tempo is automatic and can be increased. Make it harder by letting player B pass elsewhere, so player A has aim for the basket. Other option: Player A throws to a more difficult spot in the field.
