Handballexercises for u19

Players choose 2 positions from which to shoot. The possibilities are:

  • Left corner
    • There are 3 low hurdles here. Players go over the hurdles before finishing
    • While jumping over the hurdles, players look ahead, not to the ground
    • While jumping over the hurdles, players make a throwing motion with their ball
    • After the hurdles, they can finish, point of attention is that players jump well to the penalty spot

  • Left wing
    • Here are low hurdles. Players go over the hurdles before they pass and finish
    • When jumping over the hurdles, players look ahead, not to the ground
    • While jumping over the hurdles, players make sure they always land in a 0-swing
    • After landing in the last 0 pass, the player feints a move opposite a post (defender) and passes left or right between the post and the cap

  • Midfield
    • There is a ladder here. Players go through the ladder before finishing with a running shot
    • While going through the ladder, players look ahead, not to the ground
    • While going through the ladder, players make a throwing motion with their ball
    • After the last compartment of the ladder, the player brings the ball up from below to complete a running shot

  • Right wing
    • There is a pole (defender) on the 9 meter. Players finish with a distance shot
    • It is important that they are played in the run
    • Use the first 2 passes to gain speed, the last pass to move upwards
    • Point of attention is variation in the rounding.

  • Left wing plays the ball with a bounce to the corner
  • The corner plays the ball back to the left wing
  • The left wing puts pressure on the defence and the corner comes behind and gets the ball
  • The corner passes the ball to the right construction and waits a little bit
  • The corner starts in towards the circle between 3 and 2 and receives the ball from the right-wing construction and rounds on goal
drawing The 1 change
In this exercise we improve our footwork while pressing and in the completion.

On the LO there are 3 pawns at the point to the back. The 2 front pawns stand at the 9 meter mark. One touch point stand past the right pawn in the middle.

  • Players pass to the attacking point and run without the ball towards the left pawn, in the forward movement they get the ball, in the backward movement they play it back.
  • Players walk back to the back pawn and pass again, this time to the front right pawn.
  • Repeat this 2x, at the last time at the right pawn the players finish.
On the RO there is the following lineup:

Players throw to a point of contact on the left side of the exercise and turn on the right side next to the posts. Run half round back to back, get the ball and complete by jumping over the hurdle.
After the 2nd phase the attack often falters. We now practice what to do to keep up the pace.

  • When the circle on the left is at 2, the LH comes up and makes a switch with the LO.
  • The pressure is put "short" right away so MO and RO can do the same and in this way we play the RH free.

  • Option is to let the circle move with the ball to create a barrier on the right side.
  • Run from back line to back line at a fast pace.
  • You make 2 pairs, number one starts running and number two counts how many times she makes it to the back line.
  • Start with 4 minutes and build up with 30 seconds or 1 minute extra.
  • Keep track of how many times each person has made it to the back line.
  • You lay down a running ladder and everyone goes through the ladder with fast footwork
  • At the end there is a bench, use the right leg to push off onto the bench and make the jump shot.
  • Number round high left and number 3 high right, alternate
  • Variation, low and free

  • Both sides start with a medicine ball in extended arms stepping out onto the pawns.
  • When you get back to the corner you run to the bench, there you grab a ball and sprint onto the bench with two legs at a time.
  • When jumping off the bench the bench is between your legs.
    • You have your arm in a shot position.
  • When you have had the whole bench you take three steps and shoot at goal.
  • Quickly get the ball again and then jump into the hoops with two legs in each hoop.
  • Then shoot at goal again and get the ball.
drawing Course walk
We play this to practice the previous exercises at high speed and in competition form.

  • 3-vs-3 without circle. Point of attention in attack: lots of movement, don't hang on your spot. Point of attention in coverage: who steps out when.
  • 3-vs-4 with circle. Cover is undermanned and tries to break the attack by taking the speed out of it.
  • 4-vs-4. The coverage is now complete with a circle in their back. Again, focus on who has the circle at what time and when they should step out.
  • 5-vs-5. Same as before only now first LH and then RH are involved.
This exercise focuses on accelerating in the run while looking carefully around you.

  • The team divides into 2 numbers that are about the same speed.
  • The 2-tals divide on the outside lines of the hall.
  • At the start, the 2-counts run one behind the other, front is the runner and back is the ticker.
  • At the whistle, the pairs sprint to the opposite line/corner and the ticker tries to tick off the runner.
  • Are you tapped? Press down 5 times. Did you escape? 5 x push-ups for the other person.
1-on-1 attack/defending

  • 2 defenders take place on the left formation and on the right formation between 2 hats (approximately 3m between the hats)
  • The rest are spread over the left build-up and the right build-up (attack), and 1 point of play on the middle build-up
  • Attacker on the left plays the middle build-up and gets the ball back, after which she passes the defender, it is her turn on the right.
All kinds of exercises with mats
  • Pairs of 2 with 1 ball

  1. Player with ball tries to touch the mat with his foot
    • Other player tries to prevent it with the body
    • Defender has hands on his back
    • Each pair 2 times 1 minute, then change.
  2. Both players are on their knees on the mat
    • Try to push each other off the mat
    • If someone is pushed off the mat, start again
  3. Both on knees on the mat
    • 1 Holds ball, other player tries to take ball away
  4. The ball is on the mat
    • Both players with their hands on the edge of the mat, roll the ball towards each other
  5. Repeat, but then after contact with the ball move forward a bit, so that you have gone all the way around the mat
  6. Ball between the heads of the players, on hands all around the mat.
In this exercise the learning of the feint is central through 2 practice forms.

Form 1:
  • Players start on the left back court without the ball, opposite a direct defender
  • Left and right of the defender there are 2 points of play with the ball
  • Player A starts with a run, feints to the left and receives the ball from the right (or the other way around) and finishes the game
Exercise form 2:
  • Player A runs to the right back court to get a ball from the box.
  • Player A crosses 3 medium hurdles and lands in a 0 pass, opposite a post (defender) positioned at 10 metres
  • After passing the post, player A shoots from distance opposite a defender block
All players pass in this way;
  • After being blocked you take the shot out of the goal and become the playmaker in exercise 1
  • If you are playing in training form 1, you become the starting player in training form 1
  • If you are a starting player and you have done training form 1 and 2, you become the block in training form 2
