Handballexercises for u8

Preparation: 2 teams face each other at the half way line, 2 players at 1m

- 1 team gets the ball.

- Team that gets the ball goes on the attack, other team on the defence, so goalkeeper quickly in goal, defenders around the circle.

- Pay attention to your place on the field, stay there, if possible, when you go on attack.

- Defend offensively, no man marking, do not stick to the circle.

Question: can you put your foot on the circle?

- Attacking according to basic attack, defenders working together.

Question: what is a block?

Showing: attackers at distance, attackers close to circle.

Shot at cone/goal. (goalie throws out).

You are only allowed to run on the lines of, for example, a volleyball field. The person who's 'it' must try to tag 1 of the runners.

Handicaps:

  • Only turn right/left.
  • Knees high.
  • Hopping.
  • Backwards (don't fall!) etc.

Outside you can set up a closed course with hats or cones.

  • Simply, throw the ball up and catch it again.
  • In several variations:
    • Rotate 360 degrees
    • One or more times clapping before catching
    • Sit down and catch

  • Two teams of 4 to 6 players try to get the ball to their 'queen' by throwing the ball over the top.
  • The queen stands in a hoop or on a mat.
  • Every time the queen catches the ball the team scores a point.
  • The queen can of course be defended/blocked!
  • Street ball with small target area (approx. 4m, fence with hats) and on half field.
  • No rules, except maximum 3 passes with ball.
  • Use to get the players to pass as much as possible.
  • Preferably use a goalcha/street handball.
    • It does not bounce and is very easy to catch.
  • All players stand in fixed positions on the playing field, possibly indicated by hoops.
  • They are not allowed to move. One player is now being chased.
  • This player has to be hit by one of the other players, by them throwing the ball back and forth.
  • If the runner is hit, the thrower becomes the runner and the runner becomes thrower.

Variations

- More runners
- More balls

  • All players line up with the ball near the centre line
  • Everyone takes turns to throw at the goal
  • Throwing from position, from the run and with a jump shot
  • Pay attention to the way of throwing
  • All players are spread over the playing area.
  • One player starts as the "hunter" and one player as the "prey".
  • The "hunter" tries to catch the "prey".
  • The "prey" can escape by running away or lying down next to another player.
  • This player now becomes the "hunter" and the old "hunter" becomes the "prey".

  • Pairs stand in pairs in a large circle.
  • In the middle are (number of pairs - 2) balls.
  • On a signal the players start sprinting on the outside (remember to indicate the direction).
  • When the player is back with his/her partner, she/he crawls between his/her legs and takes a ball from the middle.
  • Those who have not conquered the ball must do some push-ups or something similar.
  • Then they change places and start the game again.
  • Variations:
    • Sprinting with side steps
    • Sprint backwards
    • Sprint in different directions
    • Lateral sliding passes to the left and right

  • 2 teams of 5 - 6 players.
  • The exercise is performed as a relay race.
  • The team runs a slalom around the pylons.
  • The point from which the throw must be made is at the pylon at the free throw line.
  • The moment the player finishes, the next player starts.
  • Variations:
    • The whole round is dribbled
    • Each player makes 3 rounds:
      • The first round the ball is carried between the pylons and dribbled along the long side
      • The last round is the whole round dribbled.
      • Carry the ball between the pylons and dribble the rest of the way

  • The player who scores ten times first has won.
  • When you have shot, you have to walk backwards to your position.
