Hockeyexercises for technique build-up
- A takes the ball out and walks towards the circle where there is a defender and A plays the ball back to B.
- B passes the ball to C. When the ball is in the hands of C the 4 on 2 match starts and the defenders can take the ball away.

- Close the passing line to the goal and let the attackers make the mistake.
- 3 against 3 game format
- The aim is for you and your team to drive the ball over your opponent's back line. When you have done this you can go straight to the other back line.
- Tips defenders:
- Double your opponent
- Push your opponent to one side
- Let the opponent make the mistake
- Maintain an active position
- Tips attackers:
- Make sure you let the ball do the work
- Run the in-out
- Always be able to return the ball
- Play the safe ball
- Party form with small teams
- Goal communication
- Talking to each other and daring to put each other in the right place.
2 exercises in 1
Exercise 1: one touch scoring
- A runs in towards the goal gets the ball from B who shoots it hard and flats at the goal.
- A tips the ball in with a one touch.
- A turns at the same time and receives the ball from C who also flattens hard towards the goal.
- A tips the ball in with a one touch
Exercise 2: game 3 against 3
- Play a game 3 against 3 against each other.
- Tips for attackers
- Make the field big when you have the ball
- Make triangles to reach each other easily
- Over the backhand side of the opponent
- Make use of the lift pass
- Make sure you can always return the ball
- Tips for the defenders
- All stand behind the ball
- Push them to your forehand side (think about how you will stand up)
- Try to double them up and trap them
- You can always return the ball
5 against 3.
- A passes the ball to B, B passes the ball to C.
- When C has received the ball the 5v3 starts.
- Tips attackers:
- Keep speed
- Always return the ball
- Pass over the backhand side of the opponent
- Keep the field wide and long
- Communicate with each other
- Use the in-out to receive the ball
- Tips Defenders:
- Close the gap
- Close down pass lines to the front
- Make sure they have to keep playing backwards
- Communicate with each other
- Keep them outside the circle (if they enter the circle, the pressure is on the ball)
- If it is too difficult for the defenders let a tackle back runner join in
Goal :
- To take on and pass at speed in movement.
Execution:
- A pushes to B,
- A runs along the 23 meter line and gets the ball back from B.
- A takes on the run and passes immediately to C who comes up the sideline and passes immediately to D on the back line.
- If there are only 3, C runs to the back line.
- D takes on the ball and dribbles into the circle.
- D passes to head of circle (A)
- A gives a hard pass to B for tip in.
Variations 1. start on the other touchline so that the whole width of the field is covered. 2. do the same exercise the other way 3 A shot on goal and gets another rebound ball from B
Goal :
- Transfer , quick assumptions and passing
Execution :
- A does Indian dribble at the pawns
- Pass to B.
- B takes open and passes immediately to C who comes up along the sideline.
- C runs on to the back line and runs via the back line in the direction of the goal.
- C passes back to A at the head of the circle.
- A scores.
Points of attention:
- Clean passing
- Quick passing and
- Correct passing in the run
Variations :
- From the other side
- Instead of dribble 3 D, introduce aerial dribble or passing moves (drag, dummy).
- B takes closed take instead of open take.
- C can come up unhanded along the back line,
- C, after taking the ball, passes straight to the far-post area where A goes.
- Bring in the rebound
- From B to C a high ball.
- A starts with the ball and passes it to B
- D closes the pass line between A and B
- E starts pressuring B
- F wants to intercept the pass between B and C
- A,B,C want to score at the goal on the backline
- D,E,F want to keep the ball in their hands and score at the goal on the halfway line if they capture it
- A starts with the ball and passes it to B
- B passes the ball back to A
- A takes the ball open and plays it to C
- B runs through and gets the ball wide from C
- From then on it is a 3 against 2 B, C, D against the 2 defenders
- if the defenders intercept the ball they score at the little goalkeeper's side
- Let them pass into the box.
- Give them a number.
- E.g. 5 replays without intercepting the ball.
- Once you have done this, you can start finishing on the goal.
- A starts with the ball and runs towards the bar
- There he does a chop (different action if we don't have a water court)

- B and C are ready to receive the ball from A and change places at the last moment.
- B or C receives the ball from A and then we play a 3 against 2.

- Play around from the bowl without pressure (can always be added later)
- The 2 midfielders offer themselves from the axis to the back where the ball is going.
- Not being passed to is going to the line and back to the axis.
- Not offering on the long passing line.
- Being played is opening up and then playing the hanging striker or the winger.
- After playing, continue to pass into the guard position.
- The 2 WINGER strikers offer themselves on the 23m
- The HANGING striker offers himself in the attack at the head of the circle.
- The WINGER striker on the support side looks for scoring position at the far post.
