Hockeyexercises

Exercise on both sides out
  • A gives a push to B
  • B takes the ball closed because defender D is in his back.
  • B accelerates with the ball on his stick past the cones,
  • D runs with B because he does not want B to pass.
  • D may, when B has passed the cones, try to conquer the ball
  • B wants to pass the ball to C.
  • When D intercepts the ball he passes it to C so that this person can continue with the exercise.
  • When B has gotten the ball to C C does the same and the defender E then goes to defend.
  • When E gets the ball he can finish on goal.
  • How do you turn, Va a goes to the spot of B,
  • B goes to the spot of D, D to the spot of C,
  • C to E's spot and E to A's spot

  • Tips for the attackers
    • Keep the ball close to you and screen it with your stick
    • Pass the ball over your opponent's backhand side
    • Accelerate so that it is already more difficult for the defender to stop you
  • Tips for the defenders
    • Keep your stick on the ground, then you can react much quicker to what your opponent does
    • Keep your opponent on the forehand and make sure the AS is close!
    • Let the attacker make the mistake and then intervene pass
    • Guide your opponent in the direction you want him/her to go

drawing Accept closed and be able to pass opponent

drawing Closed hiring and elevator action
  • You have them play a 3:2.
  • Red wants to go score on goal and blue wants to go intercept the ball and defend out.
  • If the drill is running you can later add in the extra blue defender. This one is going to run a tackle back. He can start running when the first ball is played
  • Instructions which you can give to the attackers
  • Always return the ball, create and maintain speed in your attack, one person creates depth so you keep the field long, pass the ball into the forehand of your teammate,
  • Pass the ball over the opponent's backhand side.

  • Questions you can ask the attackers
    • What is the goal of the exercise?
    • How can you reach the goal and what do you have to do for it?
    • What is the task of which player at which pawn?
    • Which pass technique is best to use?
  • Instructions you can give to the defenders
    • Slow down your opponent by pushing them outside, do not take the ball away straightaway but wait for the opponent's mistake, the shaft should always be closed
  • Questions to ask the defenders
    • What is the purpose of this exercise for you?
    • How can you achieve the goal and what do you need to do to achieve it?
    • What is the most important task you have within this exercise?

drawing Attack over right with tackle back runner
  • Preparation to practice with the tip-in. Further practice with the hard and pure pass to each other.
  • A push the ball to B on the forehand pay attention to the technique (hands apart, left foot in front, get power from your whole body, move your arms in the direction you are going)
  • B push the ball back to A,
  • A push to C
  • C back to A,
  • A push to D and D back to A.

  • A takes the ball from D and gives a hard aimed flats towards E.
  • E makes eye contact with the incoming B and gives a directed pass (may be push or flats)
  • B takes the ball open, lines it up and completes with a strike on goal.
  • After shooting, he accelerates around the pawns to run a tip-in ball.
  • F makes eye contact with B and gives a hard aimed flat just as if he is going to score.
  • B causes the ball to change direction.

drawing Tip-in expansion
Practicing putting down a striking circle and playing in a header.
  • Ball starts on the sideline and there is no space in front so the ball must be returned!
  • How do you stand in a striking circle?
    • We play in a 4 man bowl and stand as shown in the picture below.
  • What is the task of the people in the striking circle?
    • The left back receives first the ball from the midfielder who takes it out because there is no space in front.
    • It is the job of the left back to have already looked beforehand at where there is space and where I can go with the ball.
    • Then you have the left center man in the circle, who takes some steps back so he can receive the ball from the left back in a safe place, and must also have looked beforehand at the state of play and where I can go with the ball when I am going to get it
    • The right center man in the circle must have an overview of the game and makes sure she can play for the other center man or even for the left back if there is room for it.
    • The right back can go up or down a bit, he must see the play of the opponent and be able to react to it.
    • If there is high pressure, he should drop back a little to be playable by the back men in the circle.
    • If they are applying less pressure, he can stand a bit higher to keep the field long and wide and play forward.
  • How are we going to build up forward what is the job of the midfielders?
    • The task of the midfielders is to pass from inside to outside, run towards the ball and if they do not get the ball, run away again to create space for your team-mates
  • The other team is going to put pressure on the players who are playing in the bowl and experiment with this

drawing Playing in the striking circle
  • Ball possession with smaller teams.
  • Objective:
    • Looking at each other
    • Giving a pass into the forehand of the teammate
    • Giving a pass over your opponent's backhand side.

drawing Ball possession with teams of 3
Exercise with a build-up on the right with tip-in variation in it.

  • A wants to play a free ball and there is a lot of pressure in front.
  • The ball is therefore played back to B
  • B receives the ball in the run and makes eye contact with the incoming C who receives the ball and again makes eye contact with the deep running A.
  • A takes the ball in the open and drives with the ball on the stick at high speed towards the back line.
  • Makes eye contact with the running C and gives a 90 degree pass on the forehand.
  • C takes the ball and lines it up and finishes with a strike on goal,
  • A stands there actively to tip the ball if necessary.
  • To the stag of C, A is right there ready to tip the ball coming from D.
  • D has a hard aimed flat as if he is about to score.
  • A makes sure this ball changes direction and goes into the goal.

drawing Attack on the right with tip-in
A game form where for switching is tested.
  • You make two teams, if you score at one goal you may take the ball right out and go score at the other side.
  • This means that both teams have to switch because they are now coming towards the other goal.

drawing Party form maked taked
  • V1 pass the ball to V2
  • A.B,C are going to run the press together and make sure that V1 and V2 cannot put the ball in the goal
  • A makes sure that the ball cannot pass through the axis and thus drives to the middle
  • B runs the ball in the right direction and starts to put pressure on V2 from the side
  • C is a bit further back so they dare to play the ball to V2 and when the ball is passed together with B he presses on the ball and makes sure it cannot go past the line
  • When they have conquered the ball, the 3 of them build up to score a goal

drawing Press with 3 men and switch to attack
  • Attack through the middle which starts with a 2:1
  • B is a deep man starting in the circle. A starts with the ball and wants to finish with B on goal.
  • C wants to slow the game down and close the pass lines to give D time to come to his aid.

  • Goal of attackers:
    • Pass the ball over the backhand side of the opponent
    • Pass to teammate on the forehand
    • Making eye contact with your team-mate
    • Make speed
  • Defender's goal
    • Drive your opponent towards your forehand (your backhand side must be closed)
    • Guiding your opponent
    • Slowing down the game to give D time to come and help you
    • When D has arrived, one goes on the deep man and the other effectively pressures the opponent and waits to take the ball away until the opponent makes the mistake

drawing 2:1 through the middle to a 2:2
  • A passes the ball with a push into the forehand of B
  • B takes the ball open and sweep it through to C
  • C takes the ball open and flicks it through to D
  • D takes the ball open, makes eye contact with E,
  • E comes running towards the ball and takes the ball in the run and turns to the right with the ball on the stick.
  • E makes eye contact with F, F comes running into the ball and gets the ball from E who gives a hard push into the forehand.
  • F takes the ball in the run it turns to the left and drives into the circle with the ball on the stick and lines the ball or and hits goal
  • G can be added later in the exercise if the exercise is going well, it then runs before the tip-in of F

drawing Pass exercise with open receive
  • A starts by slaloming through the cones and does so at speed.
  • At the end he is told whether to pass the cones left or right and accelerates with the ball on the stick.
  • A lines up the ball and hits goal
  • He turns around and gets a ball from B on the forehand. He takes the ball, lines it up again and rounds
  • Turns around again and receives a ball from C which you take on, line up and finish.
  • We turn from
    • A to C
    • C to B
    • B to A
