Korfballexercises for technique general
Objective
- Score in one attempt in the other field within the lines.
- Two teams of up to four people.
- One ball.
- Two people stand in the field on each side, other players stand behind the baseline.
- Start with a simple underhand serve.
- We play underhand tennis, so the ball must go over the net in one attempt.
- A difficult ball may bounce once but must then be returned with: one hand, a foot, or the head.
- In case of an error: the player leaves the field to the baseline and a new player takes over.
Explanation
- Divide the group into pairs. Each pair has a ball and a basket with four cones.
- Set up the field as shown in the diagram.
- Player 1 starts at the cone in front of the basket, player 2 is the passer.
- Player 1 begins with a lateral line and then accelerates sharply for the running-in shot.
- After the running-in shot, player 1 stays near the basket, moving for a short chance.
- Finally, player 1 makes a deep line for the distance shot.
- Afterwards, player 1 switches with player 2.
- Make it competitive by assigning points to the different goals.
- Running-in shot and short chance count for 1 point, the distance shot for 2 points.
- Three successful attempts in one turn gives 5 points.
- Failing to score results in a deduction of 1 point.
- Who scores 25 points first and which post has both players reaching 25 points first?
Execution
- Per post, a group of three players. All exercises are performed at 100%. Each exercise lasts 2.5 minutes. Intermediate tasks have a specific duration. The goal is for the group to score as many goals as possible.
- Shooting from the front of the post at 6 metres. The shooter gets a repeat shot, then switch roles.
- 20 burpees and 20 sit-ups.
- Running-in shots from 10 metres at the back of the post.
- Group 1 against 2 and group 3 against 4. 3 versus 3 without taking over. If scoring, you may continue, goals count double.
- 2 players under the post, 1 in front of the post. Ball is thrown from the front of the post to the player moving away, then a shot. Ball is played out to the one who shot. Player moves away from the post, receives the ball and shoots.
- Jumping jacks for 2.5 minutes.
- Shooting from the back of the post from at least 6 metres. The shooter gets a repeat shot.
- Group 1 against 3 and group 2 against 4. 3 versus 3 without taking over. If scoring, you may continue, goals count double.
- Taking penalty shots. Each player makes 4 penalty shots in a row, then switch roles.
- Wall sit and plank.
- 2 players in the attack zone, 1 person for rebound/supply. First ball always from supply to an outside player. Then follows a pass back and the first player runs deep. Cross ball that is played directly for the running-in shot. Rebound player joins the remaining attacking player.
Setup
- Divide the entire group into equal teams of 2, 3, or 4 players.
- Each team has one post as their "Home Base".
- Start with one ball in play.
- Teams attempt to score on each other's baskets.
- If a basket is scored upon, that team is eliminated.
- The game continues until only one basket remains.
- The team with the last remaining basket wins the game.
- Introduce additional balls into play to increase the pace as needed.
Game Progression
- Divide the players into two teams.
- Silently assign each child a number within their team.
- Once everyone has a number, place the ball in the middle between the teams.
- Call out a number (or multiple numbers), and the children with that number try to be the first to bring the ball to their "camp".
- Once a child has picked up the ball in the middle, the other child may attempt to tag them.
Game Progression
- Play a 4-against-4 match.
- The trained exercises are alternately incorporated into the game.
- The team that scores takes a free pass after a goal.
- If the free pass is successful, a penalty shot follows.
- Upon a successful penalty shot, the team may continue.
- After three interceptions, players switch roles.
Execution
- There are three players per korf with one ball.
- One player shoots the ball.
- The other two players stand under the korf and both try to catch the ball.
- The player who first reaches a certain number of points swaps with the shooter.
Game Rules
- Form groups of 2 people per korf. Each group receives three playing cards. The playing cards are shuffled in advance, and the numbers 2 through 5 are removed from the deck.
- With the three received playing cards, the groups must try to get as close as possible to 31. The value of the cards is as follows: Six = six, Seven = seven, Eight = eight, Nine = nine, Ten = ten, Jack = ten, Queen = ten, King = ten, Ace = eleven.
- Examples: nine + jack + queen = 29 points or ace + jack + queen = 31, jack + jack + jack = 30.5.
- If the players have completed a series, they may exchange one of their cards for a new one to get closer to 31.
- The trainer sets a timer and says "stop" when it goes off. The team that is then closest to 31 wins.
- Running-in shots: three goals in a row.
- Short chance: four goals in total.
- Distance shot behind the korf: two goals in a row (4/5 meters).
- Penalty shots: three goals in a row.
- Round the korf: four goals on each side of the korf (3 meters).
Play a match play with the entire group to improve team skills.
Execution:- Divide the group into two teams.
- Play a full match with all the rules of korfball.
- Ensure a fair distribution of players across the teams.
Summary:
- Exercises focused on catching balls at the right moment when they bounce or roll.
Organisation:
- One ball per pair or trio.
Execution:
- Pairs:
- a) Number 1 rolls the ball a few meters away. Number 2 must acquire the ball as quickly as possible, pick it up, and throw it back. Switch after 5 times.
- b) Number 1 throws the ball with a small arc so that it bounces approximately 4 meters away. Number 2 tries to catch the ball as quickly as possible after the bounce.
- c) Number 1 drops the ball from a height of 1.5 meters directly in front of number 2. Number 2 tries to catch the ball as quickly as possible after the bounce. Note: place your hand on the ball as soon as it rises.
- Trios:
- d) The passer stands in the middle and rolls the ball a few meters away. The others may run as soon as the ball is released. Who catches the ball first? Switch after 3 times.
- e) As in d, but now the passer throws the ball with a small arc so that it bounces approximately 4 meters away. Who catches the ball first?
- f) As in e, but now from under a korf. The one who catches the ball first may make a turnaround shot.
- g) As in b, but now with trios. Who reacts the fastest?
In Brief
- A nice shooting exercise with a lot of running.
Organisation
- The korfs are placed in a circle.
- At each korf, there is a feeder with a ball.
- The rest of the players stand in the middle of the circle.
- Aim for 2 korfs per 5 players.
Execution
- Part a: The players in the center circle take running-in shots at one of the korfs. Those who are not fast enough must wait. Each player retrieves their own running-in shot and then looks for a free korf again.
- Part b: As in part a, but who scores 10 goals first?
- Part c: As in part b, but who scores a goal at each korf first?
- Part d: As in part b, but with overhead running-in shots.
- Part e: As in part b, but with a passing situation. The runner plays the ball back to the feeder who has moved away from the post. Who scores 5 goals first?
- Part f: As in part b, but the runner takes dodge shots. The feeder retrieves the shot and then tries to score themselves. Who scores 5 times first?
- Part g: As in part f, but after the dodging movement, no shot follows. The ball goes back to the feeder who shoots with a quarter/half turn.
Variation
- Add defenders. Which attacker scores 10 running-in shots or 5 goals from dodge shots first?
Starting Formation
- Two groups at the first two cones.
- The first in line runs to the hoop and goes through it from the bottom, so the hoop goes over their head.
- Then they move in a defensive stance to cone two and spin around it four times.
- Finally, they run to cone three and score before they can run back to cone one and tag the next person in line.
- Move backwards and bend through the knees with your arm raised.
- Hoop from cone 1: 5 meters.
- Cone 2 from hoop: 5 meters.
- Cone 3 from cone 2: 5 meters.
- Post from cone 3: 4 meters.
