Soccer drills for technique heading

  • 2 teams are made.
  • In the middle is a pylon (or several).
  • Teams transfer the ball to other side first by example:
    • Throwing over.
    • Kick over.
    • Dropkick.
    • Heading.
  • Ball must be placed on the opposite side of the pile.
  • After this the next player can do it.
  • When the last ball is returned, the pawn in the middle can be kicked over.

  • Two teams are made.
  • In the middle stands a pylon (or several).
  • Teams first bring the ball over to the other side:
    • Throwing over.
    • Kick over.
    • Dropkick.
    • Heading.
  • The ball must be placed on the opposite side of the pitch, and the person passing on the ball must also sprint back.
  • After this, the next team can play.
    • When the last ball is returned, the pawn in the middle can be kicked over.

  • The defenders (formation 1-2-2) try to prevent the attackers from scoring, by making the space as small as possible and conquering or blocking the ball at all costs. 
  • The defenders help each other by keeping the distance between them as small as possible.
  • The attackers (formation 4-2) try to make the field as large as possible in order to score a goal
  • After conquering the ball, the defenders can try to score in a small goal
  • The attackers can score in a big goal with a goalkeeper
  • When the ball goes out of the field, it is kicked back in where it went out.

This exercise can be used for each category in the warm-up.

  • Both players A lead the ball to the middle pawn where they perform a cutting move and then play the ball to the next player. 
  • After the pass, the player walks diagonally to player B who throws in the ball on which player A heads the ball in. 
  • The heading player then takes the ball and stands behind goal, 
  • The other player joins the group that has to perform the movement

Field setup:

Set up 2 x 2 pawns per group of 2 players. Every 2 players get 1 ball.

Gameplay:

The ball is thrown up by one player and kicked back by the other. The following variants must be practised.

Variants:

  • Head the ball back into the hands of the player.
  • Head the ball over the player.
  • Head the ball through the ground towards the player.

Tips:

  • Make sure you head from your neck and don't just let the ball bounce on your head.
  • Always tighten your arm muscles and move your head towards the ball.

This exercise can be used for each category in the warm-up.

  • Both players A lead the ball to the middle pilon where they perform a chop and then play the ball to the next player. 
  • After the pass, the player runs diagonally to player B who throws in the ball and players A heads it in the goal.
  • The player that performed the header then takes the ball and stands behind goal, 
  • The other player joins the group that has to perform the movement
  • field 15 m wide.
  • Make groups of three. 
  • Each player of a group goes either left, straight or in the middle.
  • The player in the middle asks for the ball and plays it firmly to the other player
  • Player in the middle turns and asks for the ball again but on the other side.
  • 1m full on and then switch.
  • all players on the left get the ball.
  • Player 2 runs in and asks for the ball.
  • Player 1 plays in and gets it right back.
  • Player 2 runs around the pilon and asks for the ball again.
  • Change role after 10 times.

This exercise can be used for each category in the warm-up.

  • Both players A lead the ball to the middle pilon where they perform a hijacking movement and then play the ball to the next player. 
  • After the pass, the player walks diagonally to player B who throws in the ball on which player A kicks in. 
  • The headed player then takes the ball and stands behind goal, 
  • The other player joins the group that has to perform the movement
  • Middle player speeds up to goal with ball at his foot and finishes on target
  • Returns to blue pilon (sprint), passes and gets the ball back from the player at the red pilon
  • Red takes the ball along the flank to the back line
  • Meanwhile the one that started goes back towards goal and asks the ball from other flank while running
  • Takes the ball on and finishes (outside the rectangle).
  • Right flank and attacker dive in the box and finish the cross coming from the left flank

  • Blue kicks/ throws the ball to red.
  • Red takes the ball and stops them.
  • Red kicks/ throws the ball to blue.
  • Blue takes the ball and silences it.
  • Repeat these steps 5 times.
Whoever finishes first with 10 passing the ball back and forth has won.
