Volleyball drills for technique serving

  • In today's exercise, the following techniques will be used: serving, attacking, passing and distributing.
  • However, the emphasis is on the pass and the distribution.
  • The players have to watch, think well and react adequately during this exercise.

service-pass-and-distributionThe diagram looks more complicated than the exercise is. The exercise goes as follows (I keep the numbering of the red numbers):

  • 1 player 3 serves
  • 2a one of the two playmakers runs to the position at the right front (the playmakers take turns)
  • 2b one of the two passers (in this case player 2) passes the ball to the right front side
  • 2c player 3 (who has just served) runs to the backline of the other half of the game
  • 3 the server gives a setup to the player who did NOT pass. A setup to the centre if player 2 has passed and a setup to the outside if player 1 has passed.
  • 4+5 the player who did not pass attacks (in this case player 1)
  • 6a the attacker retrieves his own batted ball and joins the back of the line of serves.
  • 6b the attacker's place is taken by the first player in the row behind the court.

As soon as the ball is struck the next service is executed.

  • Group split into two groups of 5, field divided into two halves'.
  • on each side a bench on the back line with cones on it. (opposite sides)
  • 3 players leave on the back line, 1 reserve, 1 service on other side of the field.
  • A serve is given to the three players: reception - pass - touch over net.
  • when the player has played the ball the players walk to the side where the bench is: reception - pass - hit to the cones
  • Which team hits the most cones off the bench?
drawing Knocking pawns off the bench
  • 1 catcher at the net each side
  • 2 passers either side
  • 2 or 3 server both ends
  • Per group (server-passer-catcher) take turns serving.
  • Pass to SV/catcher Ball to OTHER server.

Goal : directed serve - passingRecurrence
: 2x 5 serve : 5 straight - 5 slideExecution
:
4 servers in each corner - 4 passers in each corner2
targets ( setters)

- series 1 : serve diagonally-
series 2 : serve straight

When one side serves straight, the other side serves diagonally.

Rotation: servers become passers, passers-servers, passers also change their position.

4-corner-serve-receive-drill

  • Have team line up individually with ball facing wall in center of room.
  • Practice for a few minutes with overhand serving.
  • Pay attention to a tight hand, stepping out, straight back and throwing up the ball.
  • One player at the net, the other on the 7-metre line.
  • The one at the net throws a short ball on the 3-meter line, then on the 7-meter line and so on.
  • First catch and throw the ball, if this goes well, you can continue to play.
  • Important that they stand still during the pass and do not wave their arms.
  • Passing and directed service practice, walk-through exercise, everyone runs after his ball, if you do not pass you stand, possibly expand the exercise by placing a playmaker on the 2/3 and have him give a setup backwards.
drawing Service and defence

2 groups of 3 players

  • 1 bench at position 5 - about 6 meters
  • 1 chair at position 2 - about 3 meters line

Players pass to the bench: on the bench on the right is 1 point

  • Strikes from 3 meter line: 10 points
  • Displays from 5 to 6 meter line: 10 points
  • Fouls from the back line: 10 points

If a pass is hit from the left side of the bench, from the outside next to the field or from behind the field; the person who saved the pass sits on the chairOr else
players must first free the player from the chair

Libero on position 6
Setter on position 3

2 Waiters on position 1 - if waiter misses, the waiter is called back.
1 receptionist on position 5
1 libero on position 6
1 setter on position 3
1 attacker on position 2
1 blocker on position 4

store-and-defend
  • 1 serves to 2 and libero to 6
  • 2 makes reception to setter and gives back pass to 3
  • 3 attacks straight ahead or tips short - server defends attack/tip from 3
  • After the serve server (1) starts defending on position 5 - libero stays in place
  • Rotation: server -> receiver -> attacker -> block -> reserve server
  • 2 groups, field in half lengthwise.
  • Side A left 2 servers,
  • Side B left 2 passers, 1 SV and 1 attacker.
  • After serving, server walks into the court and chooses position other server ready for next ball.
  • Pass to SV set-up
  • Attacker makes correct run and jump and plays ball BH to server. Then next ball.
  • On 5 occasions correct - 5 times tactical ball - task server on 3m line.
  • When 3 times correct - 2 times hard attack straight ahead.
  • Then turn except for SV.

Hitting on the outside and the middle

Then

Except for the playmaker, the other players perform successively a reception, an attack block and a defence.

The exercise goes as follows:

  • 1 player 1 hits a technical ball to player 7
  • 2a player 7 passes the ball to the play distributor
  • 2b player 1 walks to the other line and closes at the back.
  • 3 the play dealer gives a setup to player 6
  • 4 player 6 smashes the ball on the line or diagonally
  • 5 player 6 retrieves his batted ball himself
  • 6 player 6 serves the ball to the other mat
  • 7 player 6 retrieves his own ball
  • 8 player 6 joins row
  • This can also be done with a middle attack

After 10 minutes a block is added

drawing ball control
  • The field is divided lengthwise, by an aerial on the half net.
  • Players are divided on 4 places,
  • Player serves over the net and is caught by the player on the other side. This player closes the row with the ball, next to the catcher. Etc.
  • VARIATION:
    • Player doesn't catch the ball anymore, but passes straight up to herself.
