Volleyball drills for technique setting / overarm technique
- 2 balls/2 people
- Player 1 has 2 balls, which she throws over in turn, player 2 catches both balls.
- The roles are then reversed.
- Option 1: The balls can be thrown over with increasing difficulty.
- Option 2: the first ball is caught bra, the second ball in split.
- Option 3: player 1 catches ball under net, person 2 throws ball over net.
- 1 player who runs in when the ball leaves the court.
- Ball leaves from person standing deep in the field (same side as SV).
- SV turns in and must key ball into the hoops, which is where otherwise attacker will be.
- If in the hoop, put point on scoreboard.
- If next to it, put point on other side.
- Fetch ball and join at the back to key ball in.
- Difference between points = number of abdominal muscles afterwards.
1 ball/ person
- everyone plays ball individually BH against wall above a line
- players count each other
- keep score
- Everyone on one position, we don't play center.
- Basically you play a small game, with only rallies.
- At each round you walk the lines as an outside attacker, walk from the front of the net to the three meter line to defend the balls within the three meter.
- At every rally that goes well over the net, you rotate one spot.
- See picture.
- Take turns throwing the ball.
- After throwing the ball touch the back line and return to the same spot.
- Throwing good?
- Then everything underhand. Later all above hands.
- 1 defender starts behind the back line
- C plays high ball in the field
- 1 comes in and plays overhead to S
- S sets up backwards to 4
- attack straight ahead, attacker gets the ball
- 1 becomes attacker and 2 defender
VARIATION: attack on other position, with block, defense
- Player A throws/strikes the ball towards player C.
- Player C passes the ball to player B.
- Player B sets up the ball.
- Player C attacks if the pass was good.
Goal: Try to attack/play 3rd ball on the imaginary mats (straight or diagonal).
After each ball: A to row position C, C to row position A, B change after a while.
Extension: With enough players one-woman block.
- See picture.
- Take turns throwing the ball.
- After throwing the ball touch the back line and walk to the next spot.
- Throwing good?
- Then everything underhand.
- Later all above hands.
Two players
- player 1 plays the ball overhand to player 2
- while player 2 throws the ball immediately to player 1,
- so play 1 ball constantly + throw and catch 1 ball at the same time.
- playing high and throwing fast and aimed: time!
- 2 players/1 hoop
- Player A hits the ball over the net from the hoop she is at 2m from the net,
- he runs behind and catches the ball after a bounce,
- then he dribbles twice and tips the ball back into the hoop;
- player B catches the ball and performs the exercise as well
- Challenge: 1 point when the ball bounces the edge and 2 points when it falls in
- 1 defender starts behind the back line - C plays high ball in the field - 1 comes in and plays overhead to S - S set-up to where attacker is standing - attack straight ahead, attacker gets the ball - 1 becomes attacker and 2 defender VARIATION 1: Harder hit ball, with fixed libero in defence. VARIATION 2: IDEM to 1, but with block after your attack.
- Player A serves the ball to player C.
- Player C passes the ball to player B.
- Player B sets up the ball.
- Player D attacks.
Goal: try to attack/play 3rd ball on the mats (straight or diagonal).
After each ball move one place in your own group.
Extension: When there are enough players, one could also choose to place a block.
