Korfballexercises for technique rebound
Last update: january 2026
Objective
- Score 5 goals.
- The rebounder under the post competes against the shooter in front of the post.
- Which of the two players scores 5 goals first?
- The rebounder starts as the passer so that the shooter must shoot while moving outside the 6-meter area.
- The rebounder may only shoot if he or she catches the ball in one motion without a goal being scored.
- If someone scores 5 goals, switch roles.
- We play the best of 3 matches. At 2-0, it is finished.
- Increase or decrease the shooting distance to adjust the difficulty.
- Play with the number of goals they must achieve.
- To challenge the rebounder, they can start a few meters from the post.
- Score goals quickly enough, or you will lose the match.
- The rebounder must try to catch the ball in one motion.
- In front of the basket is a rebounder -team red- with a defender -team blue-.
- The offensive blue rebounder unloads the ball, and the defensive red rebounder goes after it in defensive position.
- The defensive rebounder immediately tries to enter the rebound duel to get the best position
- The rebounder plays the ball to the player in front of the basket, who shoots.
- Which duo wins the rebound duel?
Switch when one side is the first to win three rebound duels.
Ways to bring more challenge:
- When the attacking side has won the rebound duel and one of the attacking rebounders is free, they may quickly take an extra chance.
When it is too difficult, you can dissect the exercise as follows:
- Duo at the declarer position may not participate: plays out to the red player in front of the basket, doubles and comes to shot.
- Omit the extra chance.
With 4 players:
- Everyone stands at his/her pawn 5 meters from the basket. Players forming a team put themselves in the diagonal.
- One player has the ball and shoots.
- The others engage in the rebound duel - the shooter, too, if necessary.
- Whoever has the ball gets to attack as a team.
- Maximum of 2 chances.
- Who has X goals first?
With 3 players:
- The player who catches forms a team with the shooter.
- 2 against 1 to attack.
Turn after each attack.
The focus in this exercise is on finishing chances and timing in the rebound.
If you do not score goals quickly enough, you will lose the game.
If you do not score goals quickly enough, you will lose the game.
- Goal is to score 5 goals.
- The rebounder under the basket plays against the shooter in front of the basket. Which of the two players scores 5 goals first?
- The rebounder starts as a pointer such that the shooter has to shoot on the move outside the 4 meters.
- The rebounder may shoot only if he or she catches the ball in one shot without scoring a goal.
- If one player scores 5 goals this player is the winner and all other groups stop play
- This basket is the winner's basket, the basket furthest from this is the loser's basket
- Then per pole each winner -the player who scored the most of the 5 points- moves 1 place towards the winner's basket.
- The loser -the player who scored the least of the 5 points- moves 1 place in the opposite direction, towards the loser's basket
- In case of a tie, you take penalty throws; the player who misses first is the loser.
3 per basket
- 1 shooter and 2 rebounders behind or to the side of the basket at 3 or 4 meters depending on level
- Of the 2 rebounders, 1 is attacker, 1 is defender: the one closest to the basket is the defender
- Shooter in front of the basket calls "yes", at that moment both rebounders may move towards the basket to take the correct position.
- 5 rounds, then switch positions.
Points of attention:
Pay attention to lining up attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Pay attention to lining up attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Variations:
- The one with the most rebounds starts shooting.
- Shooter goes to intercept and may pass to offensive rebounder for short chance if shot is wrong
3-counts per pole. Rebound, follow-through, shooter.
- The shooter gets the ball played to her and shoots from about 6 yards out on motion
- As soon as the passer thinks the ball can be caught, she goes for the breakthrough and takes a through ball
- After the follow-through ball, the shooter, keeping her player busy, i.e. on the move, is played to and shoots
- As soon as the passer thinks the ball can be caught, she goes for the breakthrough and takes a follow-through ball
- After 3 shots, there is a change of positions - shooter becomes rebounder, rebounder becomes passer and passer becomes shooter.
- Which 3-team scores 25x first?
- Divide into two teams.
- Make two boxes around the basket so that good shots can be made from outside.
- Need 3 or 4 balls per game.
- Shooters stand outside the box and one rebounder per team stands in the box near the opponent's shooters.
Exercise:
- The shooters start shooting from outside the box to get to X number of goals as fast as possible.
- The rebounders catch the ball and play it to their fellow players in the other box.
- Which team will have scored X number of goals first.
Rules:
- Rebounders are not allowed outside the box, shooters not in it.
- The rebounder's job is to estimate as quickly as possible where all the balls are coming and how to get them to your teammates as quickly as possible.
Setup:
- 1 basket in oval, with a basket directly opposite at 8 meters.
- 1 Player in front of the basket with ball.
- 2 Players behind the basket just outside the oval.
- During the exercise pay attention to shooting technique.
- The others wait at the side - maximum 3 players.
Variation 1:
- Player 1 takes shot.
- Players behind the basket take running Rebound.
- The Player who has the Rebound becomes shooter.
- The Player who lost the Rebound duel now enters the rebound duel with the next player from the queue.
- The shooter joins the queue.
Variant 2:
- Same as Variation 1, but the Player who has the Rebound takes a short chance.
Variant 3:
- Same as Variation 1, but the Rebounders now try to score a goal in the basket opposite. The Shooter becomes a defender.
Variant 4:
- Same as Variant 3, but with maximum 1 or 2 passes towards the basket opposite.
Organization:
Three players per post.
1 player with ball diagonally in front of the basket at 7 meters.
The other player is also diagonally in front of the post.

The other player is also diagonally in front of the post.
- The player under the basket pulls away making the player with ball the middle player.
- Gets the ball thrown to him from the player in front of the basket. If the arrangement is good, he thus receives the ball a little diagonally.
- This player runs to the post for the catch -rebound-.
- The player in front of the basket comes next to it and gets the ball.
- And comes to shot. Remember to turn in well to the basket with the hips.
We score 10x to the left and 10x to the right. - After the shot, the ball is played out to the first out runner, the catcher now runs out and play begins again.
- Same as above
- Only now the player who threw the ball in front of the basket comes next to it.
- This one does not get the ball but cuts inside and makes a through ball from space without the ball.
10x left and 10x right - Catches the ball himself and plays it to the first runner, the catcher now runs out and the game starts again.

Too easy or too difficult:
- Then increase or decrease the shot distance.
- Play with the number of goals they have to score.
- To challenge the rebounder, you can choose to have the rebounder start several meters from the basket. It becomes more difficult for the rebounder to catch the ball in one shot.

Play 2 against 2 with mixed teams
Static position of 4 players 2 teams around the basket.
Player of team 1 takes the shot and at that moment all players react by rebounding.

The team that is not in possession of the ball, after the rebound, become defenders.
The attackers can choose to shoot after the rebound or by 1 or more passes seek the second chance.
End is when the defenders have the ball or a goal is scored.
If a goal is scored, that team may start again. If no score is scored then the other team may start.
Starting shot inside: 1 point
After the starting shot is scored: 2 points

These are played 2 against 2 with mixed teams (2 against 1 is also possible - then you start in triangle around the basket):
- Static position of 4 players (2 teams) around the basket.
- Player 1 takes the shot, and at that moment all players react by rebounding.
- The team that is not in possession of the ball after the rebound becomes defender.
- The attackers can choose to shoot after the rebound, or to look for the 2nd chance by 1 or more passes.
2 against 1:
- The player with the ball shoots.
- The 2 others engage in the rebound duel at the moment of the shot.
- The winner of the rebound duel can take a chance.
- If a shot cannot be taken immediately, the shooter will act as a co-attacker.
- They get max 2 passes to come to a chance.
The focus in this exercise is on finishing chances. If you don't score enough goals quickly enough, you will lose the game.
Objective is to score 2 goals.
The rebounder under the basket plays against the shooter in front of the basket.
Which of the two players scores 2 goals first? Then swap positions.

3 per basket
- 1 shooter and 2 rebounders behind the basket at 3 or 4 meters (depending on level).
- Of the 2 rebounders, 1 is attacker, 1 defender: agree in advance who has what task.
- Shooter in front of the basket calls "yes", at that moment both rebounders may move towards the basket to take the correct position.
- When attacker indicates that he/she is in a good position, shooter may shoot.
- 3 rounds, then switch positions.
Points of attention:
Pay attention to positioning of attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Pay attention to positioning of attacker/defender in rebound, properly blocking out opponent
Variations:
- Do not agree in advance who has what position and let players count points separately for x-number of rebounds to get.
- Shooter shoots at any moment, then rebounders may only react to catch.
- Shooter joins the catch and, when the shot is missed, may pass to attacking rebounder for a short chance.
The focus in this exercise is on using the second chance.
When the shooter has taken a shot from the front court, it will be caught by the rebounder and passed back to the shooter as quickly as possible.
The shooter will have to anticipate the second ball and adjust the running line.

The shooter will have to anticipate the second ball and adjust the running line.
- The players stand with 2 (or 3) at a basket. One is the archer, the other the rebounder.
- The shooter starts in front of the post, receives the ball and shoots.
- The shooter keeps moving after the shot.
- The player under the post catches the ball, and passes it to the shooter as fast as possible.
- The shooter takes the second chance. Look closely at where you are running to get free.
- After the second ball is taken, the game starts again in the starting position.
- Change is made after 3 sessions of 2 shots, basket of 3 rotates continuously, with 3rd player on top.
Points:
- First shot = 1p
- 2nd chance = 1p, if the rebound of the first shot is caught without bouncing the ball, you get 2 points for scoring the 2nd chance.
Exercise in 2 parts: a relative static part with 3 (point 1 and point 2), and a part from the movement with 3 and 2 (point 3 and point 4):
- Ball in the hoop:
- Player A stands facing player B, and must make sure he cannot tap the ball.
- Change position after tapping or after max. 20 sec.
- Same as previous,
- But now player A has to stand with their back to player B.
- Again blocking out with player B in the back, the 3rd person is going to move around.
- When the trainer calls 'yes', the player who has to tap the ball is changed.
- The person protecting the ball has to switch quickly
- This one per 2:
- Player 1 stands on the sideline, player 2 stands about 2,5 meter further on a cone with his back to player 1 and with his legs spread.
- About 8 metres further on is another cone.
- Player 1 is going to roll the ball through his legs, and the ball has to pass the furthest cone.
- At the moment player 2 sees the ball coming through his/her legs, he/she starts to block.
- 1 point for player 1 when he/she can tap the ball (without diving) before it reaches the furthest cone. 1 point for player 2 when the ball has passed the cone, without player 1 being able to tap the ball. When the ball does not pass the cone, also one point for player 2

- The hats around the basket have different colors.
- The hats are placed at maximum 3 meters from the basket.
- The player outside the box names a colour and plays the ball in the area of that colour.
- The player at the basket is blocking an opponent, walks sideways/backwards to the mentioned colour, gets the ball and shoots.
- It is important that the co-offensive player sees the defender's position and steers the blocker in the right direction.
- Play 2 rounds, scoring from each colour, then with a defender who must be provoked.
Objective:
