- The trainer throws the ball over the net.
- The player quickly stands up and passes the ball to the setter at the middle front position.
- The setter catches the ball or retrieves it and returns it to the trainer.

- Players lie on their stomachs on the ground. Rear player jumps over each player. At the end he turns around and rolls the ball to the back player under the other players who have formed a bridge at that time.
- Exercise to make several quick movements in a row and play high enough.
- Every child stands with the ball one meter from the net.
- Throw the ball over the net with a forearm movement and catch it on the other side.
- Throw the ball over the net with an overhead movement and catch it on the other side.
- Throwing the ball over the net overhead and catching it for yourself at the other side with forearms.
- If necessary, make it more difficult by varying height and distance.
- 4 benches, in pairs to the other side, next pair can as soon as the first bench is free.
- Each pair starts on the other side of the same bench.
- Walk across the bench, pass each other in the middle.
- Walk along the bench, jump in the middle and clap hands together, then the next bench.
- Everybody hops over the bench 4 times with hands on the bench. (move towards each other)
- Each a ball, walk over the bench, pass each other in the middle, while bouncing the ball.
- Bounce the ball, walk along the bench, jump in the middle and clap hands together.
- One ball in pairs, each on one side of the bench.
- Pass the ball while going from right to left (always closer to the middle and then further away again).
- Move sideways.
- Idem one side underarm return.
- Play one side overhead.
Part 1:
- At the position where the attacker would normally pass the ball over, a basket is placed.
- by means of a high key the ball is played into the basket
- make it more difficult by adding an extra pass BH or OH
Part 2:
- instead of the basket the attacker makes the move but does not hit!
- catching the ball overhead with the striking hand behind the ball
Part 3:
- pass and strike
Players enter the field in pairs (or trios). Each pair or trio has a ball.
First exercise:
- Ball is hit into the field by one duo or trio.
- The others try to pass the ball on in 3 contacts.
- If the ball is played to the player who is already holding the ball, this player must throw the ball to another player.
- Goal = 10 points.
Second exercise:
- Same principle as in the first exercise; but this time the ball must be overplayed with the ball they already hold.
- (Bounce/push the ball against the ball). Goal = 10 points
- Trainer stands at the net with a ball sticking out above the net
- Attacking run-up (short-long run) and watch arms swinging
- Make an offensive jump and try to touch the ball with the batting hand.
- Watch out:
- good posture
- good height
- arms well up
- Put down the close pass (brake pass) properly
- You can do this on both sides of the net, see picture. When you have completed the attack, pick up your ball and join the back of the line at the pawn.
- Red dots= Trainer
- Blue dots = players
- Orange dots= Pions
- Yellow dots= Volleyball
- Watch out:
Divide the players into 2 teams. Each team stands on one side of the net.
- On each side of the net there are a number of balls (depending on the size of the group you can add or subtract balls).
- The idea is that the players, once the starting signal is given, throw as many balls as possible to the other side.
- The team that has the most balls on its side of the net at the end of the game has lost.
- Each player may only play one ball at a time to the other side!
Variations for playing over/under the net:
- Roll with 2 arms
- Roll with 1 arm
- Overhead throw with 2 arms
- Overhead throw with stroke arm
- Overhand throw with non batting arm
- Bounce with 2 arms in front of the net so that the ball flies over the net after the bounce
- Bounce under the net (2 arms, later 1 arm, batting arm)
- 5 balls per player: place 4 balls in a diamond with 1 ball in the middle of the diamond.
- Players start behind their diamond and walk to the front,
- there they tap the middle ball,
- Then they move sideways (left or right) and tap the ball away.
- Move back to the middle of the diamond and then move sideways to the other side + tap the ball away.
- Then walk to the front, tap the ball away, back to the middle, backwards and tap the ball away.
- And finally tap the ball away in the middle.
Emphasis is on technique OH, so start with throwing the ball, if this goes well you can switch to key, attack or serve.
- R1 throws the ball over to R2
- R2 passes OH the ball to P2 (can be placed on a mat, where he/she is not allowed to get off) (comes into BH position)
- P2 passes BH to A2
- A2 passes to R1
- R1 passes OH the ball to P1 (may be placed on a mat, which he/she is not allowed to leave) (enters BH position)
- P1 passes BH to A1
- A1 plays to R2
- ....
- 1 player on each side of the net, the rest join behind the back line.
- (Player A and Player B)
- The ball is played over the net by player A overhead.
- Player B defends the ball underhand,
- Player A runs under the net and gives a pass to Player B.
- Player B plays the ball overhand over the net and then starts giving a pass.
- (Player A connects with the other side at the back)
- If the exercise goes well the ball can be hit quietly over the net.
Divide into 2 teams who will run against each other.
- Players stand in 2 groups behind the backline
- Player runs to the 3 meter line with the ball, throws the ball over the net, runs under the net and catches own ball again.
- Run with the ball to the backline, put it in the hoop and sprint back, tap the next player in the waiting line.
- Next player sprints to the ball in the hoop, takes the ball and does the same throwing exercise when coming back.
- Give the ball to the next player who will put it back in the hoop... etc...
- When the ball falls, the exercise must be repeated.
- Extend exercise with different throwing techniques or over passes
Line up: several rows in a row behind the back line.

- Sloth: sit with your back to the other side, legs extended. Pull with your hands to the other side.
- Seal: flat on belly --> pull forward with hands to get to the other side.
- Spiderman: on all fours, always moving the opposite hand and foot together: LH + RV & RH + LV
- Bearwalk: on your hands and feet to the other side
- Monkey walk: let your hands + arms hang down, almost to the ground (like a monkey) and so to the other side.
- Peacock: stepping, quietly, every time bringing leg/knees up until they form a right angle with the upper body.
- Kangaroo: same as peacock, but faster/more like skipping.
Variation:
- Instead of doing it as a relay/race, the players can also walk around and on a certain signal perform the movement that belongs to a certain animal.
- You can do the exercises on a whole field or on half a field.
Formation: circle/rectangle (on half a field)

- Dribble with right hand
- Dribble with left hand
- Alternate dribbling
- While dribbling, try to kneel down (knee by knee) --> sitting --> lying down
In pairs throwing the ball over in combination with body balance.
- Stand on 1 leg (solo exercise)
- Throwing with 2 hands
- Throwing with 1 hand
=> after each throw of the ball tap the ground (= bend forward + arms stretched = so tap the ground) + every 5 balls change legs per exercise
- Now throw the ball over with 2
- With 2 hands: pass from the neck via a bounce to the other
- With 1 hand: throw hard & tight.
- With other hand: throw hard & tight.
=> After action: each person has 2 jars + 1 tennis ball. When they have thrown the ball to the opponent, he/she moves the tennis ball from one pot to the other.
Per 2, each has a letter A or B. We walk through each other and on the signal A goes B tapping or vice versa, the trainer decides.
Walking Variations:
- Walk backwards
- Move sideways
- Cross pass
- Hopping
- Heels against seat
- Knees up
- ...
Tap variations:
- Crawling through the legs
- Hare over
- Walk around the person
- Tapping the heels
- Performing a clap game/routine
Game Form 1B:
During:
- The serve: the ball is thrown into play with both hands.
- Catching the ball with both hands above the head.
- Throwing the ball in front of himself (without dropping below the level of the eyes) and then overplaying it with an overhand touch.
Next:
- 2 feet out of the field, where the player wants: left - right - back
- Variation: touch a cone each time the ball crosses the net.
Notes:
- Throw the ball back where you caught it (do not run with the ball in your hands).
- Do not hold the ball in your hands for more than 2 seconds.
- Standing still when the ball is caught (and perhaps aiming).
Form 1C:
During:
- Picking the ball out of the air with one hand, making one collision and a second collision through a basketball dribble with one hand, high enough to play overhead. (One or two control keys may be used to play).
- Picking should be done as high as possible.
Next:
- 2 feet out of the court, where the player wants (left - right - back)
- Variant: move one of the two tennis balls placed on the 2 cones (at the back of the field).
Formation: 2 balls per 4 players

1.
- Player A (bowling motion) rolls the ball to player B (the ball must pass between the 2 cones!!).
- Player B picks up the ball, bounces it 2 times and then plays it in a bow to player C.
- Player C holds a hoop and puts the hoop down at the spot where the ball is going to collide. The ball is caught after 1 collision. Player C grabs the ball and joins player D at the back.
- Everyone follows their ball = moves up one place.
2.
- Player A throws the ball under the net to player B.
- Player B catches the ball, bounces once high, does a control key and then bounces to player C.
- Player C catches the ball low to the ground in the correct reception position and runs to D to join the back of the line.
- Everyone follows their ball = moves up one spot.
3.
- Player A throws the ball (bowling motion!) over the net to player B.
- Player B plucks the ball out of the air, bounces 3 times (must turn around during those 3 bounces to face player C) and then tips the ball to player C.
- Player C does reception for himself and joins player D.
- Everyone follows their ball = moves up one spot.
4.
- Player A calmly strikes the ball underhand over the net to player B.
- Player B plucks the ball out of the air, does 1 control bounce, then does control keys until fully turned facing player C and then plays the ball player C.
- Player C does reception for himself, catches the ball and joins player D.
- Everyone follows their ball = moves up one spot.
In a line-up with 2 players facing each other, key the ball over the net after 2 dribbles and 1 high rebound.

Possible variations:
- Play the ball after bumps
- Playing the ball after picking
- Playing the ball after catching without bots
- Play with 2 balls
Note: depending on the level we can differentiate and let the better players play with a handicap.
Setup: 2 to 4 people in the square (made by, for example, 4 benches) with the balls, the rest around them.

- The people in the square throw the balls out of the square.
- The people around the square fetch the balls and throw/put them back in the square.
- The 'side' which, at the stop signal, has the least balls, has won.
Divide the children into 2 groups; 1 counter and 1 person who does the exercise.
- 4 hoops lie in a square.
- The distance between the hoops is 5 metres.
- In each hoop there is a ball.
- The player starts in a corner with a ball in his hands.
- Swap as many balls in a row as possible, putting the ball in the hoop.
- The player has to look in the same direction.
- Each player has one turn.
- Count the number of ball changes in 45 seconds.
Instructions for the counters
- The balls have to be placed in the hoop.
- If the ball rolls out, the player must go back and put it back in!
- All four hoops must be completed in order.
- The player is not allowed to run back and forth between 2 hoops and swap balls!
Goal of the exercise:
Looking for the ball in space.
Explanation of the exercise:
Everyone should stand in a circle. One person is crouching in the middle. This person counts to 20. Count the first 10 out loud and the last 10 in your head. When you reach 20, shout "Boom" very loudly. In the meantime the ball goes round in the circle. At 'boomer' the person who has the ball must throw the ball very high into the air. The yeller will have to catch the ball/bomb.
Adjustment per level:
CMV 1/2 small circle ball catchingCMV
3/4 Larger circle ball catchingCMV
5/6 Large circle ball passing and catching.
Extra Difficult! Players do not throw the ball around but play the ball around.

- Coach (1) throws ball to SV (2)
- SV gives setup
- Player (3) smashes or plays ball to (4) or (5) to win!
- (4) or (5) passes Midfield (possibly hang a ribbon in the net)
- 6 or 7 comes in
- 4 or 5 turns with the ball
- when ball is over the net, quickly return to position
- The one who has attacked the ball well 5 times, exchanges with someone in the defensive zone.
- Plays the ball overhand to number 3,
- Is a reserve & takes the place of number 3,
- Passes to number 4
- Catch the ball and join behind number 5,
- Passes the ball to number 4, catches the ball and joins behind number 5, plays the ball overhand to number 7,
- Is a reserve & takes the place of number 7
- Passes to number 8,
- Catch the ball and rejoin number 1.
Addition: after catching the ball, touch the wall.
(In the 'overhand' rows/ at the passers if necessary reserve players)
This exercise assumes that the players know where they must stand and which zone is for them. So explain this well in advance
- Players stand in the right zone
- Reserve player serves the ball
- Block/defence, trainer throws in the ball
- After every service turn.
- Serve only when they think they are in the right position
- Also serve if they are not in the right position and serve on the uncovered position.
- They have to correct each other where they should stand.
- Throw a ball into the difficult zone every now and then. Who was this ball for?
- It's about recognizing your own zone. Who takes which ball? Call loose when in doubt etc
- Make clear agreements in advance!
pairs
- players stand opposite each other about 2-6 meter apart (players determine the distance)
- player 2 hits the ball to player 1
- player 1 returns the ball with reception
- player 2 gives a set-up to player 1
- player 1 hits the ball
- player 2 returns ball in reception
- player 1 sets up player 2
- etc
| player 1 | player 2 |
| reception | |
| pass | |
| smash | |
| reception | |
| pass | |
| smash | |
| etc |
- 2 rows of players
- 1 row on the left back
- 1 row at the right back
- create with 4 pawns a virtual line where they have to stand behind
- trainer stands at the other side of the net and throws the ball somewhere in the field.
- 1 of the 2 front rows calls LOS orI (agree on this)
- This player passes the ball into the basket on the players spot.
- At the basket stands a catcher who brings the ball to the trainer in the basket.
- The player who passes runs after the ball.
- Catch a round for the next one
- If you did not have the ball, join the shortest row.

- Player A throws ball over the net.
- Player B or C passes the ball over the net.
- The other player quickly runs under the net and sets up the ball for the same player who passed.
- This player tries to get a pawn off the bench with overhand play or a hitting move.
Which pair or team has knocked the most pawns off the bench after X number of minutes?
