Korfballexercises for u19

The goal is to score 500x with each team in the 5 assignments, after each assignment there is an in-between exercise for variation:

  • Task 1: Passing balls: score 120x
    • Intermediate task 1: defend 2 v 1 on 3 posts (5 minutes)
  • Task2: Shots from the front of the basket, out of motion: score 80x
    • Intermediate task 2: longest run scoring at 2 minutes (missing is back to 0). After 2 minutes you change your declarator/shooter
  • Task3: Short chances with interpass: score 120x
    • Intermediate task 3: longest sequence of scoring at 2 minutes (missing is back to 0), but now there may be 1 miss before having to go back to 0. After 2 minutes you change players.
  • Task4: Penalty throws: 100
    • Intermediate task 4:
      • At each post there is one fixed shooter with a fixed rebounder.
      • In each round, the shooters must score one goal within the time limit.
      • When a goal is scored, the ball is held.
      • If no goal is scored within the time limit, the shooter is out of the game.
      • The game will be played in the following rounds
        : Round 1: 10 secondsRound
        2: 5 secondsRound
        3: 3 seconds or 1 opportunity

      • The shooter will not be changed until all rounds have been played.
      • Are all players missing in a round? Then the round will be replayed!
  • Task 5: Shots back basket out of motion: 80 (possibly rotate poles 180°)
  • Both teams line up behind the line and each has their own sprint track.
  • The focus here is on responding to commands while sprinting, Goal of the players is to be first through a gate.
  • This can be the gate at the end of the sprint track. However, a command can also be given by the trainer to run through a gate at the side of the track (pots/cones).
  • Sprinting forward, backward or really stopping and turning around are all possibilities.
Fun of this game is that you can turn it into a little competition. As a trainer, you can give the commands in such a way that the score is always exciting, because not always the fastest sprinter wins, but the player who reacts the fastest.

4 posts (3 posts when with 7):

  • Under each pole someone with ball, and someone without ball in front.
  • Attacker goes through the obstacle to make the action on the basket.
  • Attacker continues through the middle to the next basket.

  • Post 1: 4 hoops through which left-right must be run
  • Pole 2: running ladder 2 foot contacts
  • Post 3: 5 hurdles: 1 foot contact between each hurdle
  • Pole 4: chance without obstacle (only with 8 players)
  1. Walkthrough
  2. Short chance after a stoppage
  3. Short chance by declarer after handball
drawing Warm-up with obstacles
These are played 2 against 2 with mixed teams (2 against 1 is also possible - then you start in triangle around the basket):

  • Static position of 4 players (2 teams) around the basket.
  • Player 1 takes the shot, and at that moment all players react by rebounding.
  • The team that is not in possession of the ball after the rebound becomes defender.
  • The attackers can choose to shoot after the rebound, or to look for the 2nd chance by 1 or more passes.

2 against 1:
  • The player with the ball shoots.
  • The 2 others engage in the rebound duel at the moment of the shot.
  • The winner of the rebound duel can take a chance.
  • If a shot cannot be taken immediately, the shooter will act as a co-attacker.
  • They get max 2 passes to come to a chance.

Per 2 (or 3) at a basket:

  1. Scoring 6 through balls together (with trio 8x scoring)
  2. Diversion to shot (alternate left and right)
    1. Scoring 4 together (with trio 5x scoring)
  3. 4 for 4 shots from your own distance
    1. Scoring together 6x in series 1,
    2. Scoring 4x in serie 2
    3. and score 2 x in serie 3 (with trio every 2 shots)
  4. Short chances
    1. Scoring 10x together
  5. Evasion to shot, then falling in for the through ball (only a point if both are scored in succession);
    1. Together 5 points (trio goes to 6 points)
  6. Shooting from a calm movement 4 to 4
    1. Scoring 5 points together
    2. Only one point when two shots in a row are scored (with trio every 2 shots, even if the last ball of shooter 1 goes in and the first one from player 2 are 2 shots in a row)
Play 3 series (see scoring exercise 3 ), which pole wins most often?

  • Player walks to pilon and makes sideways movement to left or right
  • Clearly makes 3 steps sideways facing the basket
  • Follows by a through ball
  1. Score 10 times after moving to the left and 10 times after moving to the right.
  2. Same, but now a feint follows at the pilon and then a sideward movement and a through ball at a clearly higher speed
  3. Now with opponent and get the ball after the dodge, you play the ball back to the basket and make a through ball.
    1. Depending on the defender, you pass outside or inside
    2. At inside pass you pass the ball to the other hand, because the defender protects the outer hand
    3. At the moment of play, you step past your opponent and cut inside in front of her

1 attacker, 1 attacker and 1 rebounder: (with 2 without rebounder)

Always work alternately left + right laterally.

This assignment consists of 2 parts:

  1. Passer with ball under the basket, attacker makes lateral run and gets the ball on the outside:
    1. Spin the ball around your body and replay to the declarer who brings a new support active (at 3-player, the rebounder comes in as the new declarer)
    2. Take a walkthrough ball
    3. Pass through for a shot opportunity behind the basket
  2. Attacker with ball under the basket, attacker makes lateral run and gets the ball on the outside:
    1. Throw the ball behind your body over your shoulder and catch it again, pass to the attacker who brings a new support into play (in case of a triple, the rebounder becomes the new attacker).
    2. Go via an evasive move to the shot and then fall in.
    3. Inside-action is not played on, but starts in the backfield
    4. Instead of shooting, you bring the ball around your body, pass to the attacker again and make a through ball
In this form of competition we emphasize free running in attack:

Play this with 3 attackers against 2 defenders.
As attackers against the 2 defenders, try to create good chances as
quickly
as possible.
As attackers, try to continuously run into the spaces over the backs of the defenders in order to get free faster to shoot and score.

Only balls may be passed beside you (not over the defenders. In this way you encourage the fellow attackers on both sides to open a play line which is easy for the player in possession of the ball.

  1. The attackers stay within the defined playing area.
  2. The attacker must decide within a maximum of 5 (or 3) seconds between shooting or passing....
  3. Who is first to score 3 points?
    1. A goal is a point for the attack.
    2. An interception or a ball out through the attackers is a point for the defenders.
  4. You can also work with 3 attempts or attacks if it takes too long to pass.

Challenge players to find answers to these questions:
  • Where is the space?
  • Where are the defenders or where are the defenders looking and how can I best get clear?

If you have 8 players, you can still have them play 2 on 1 at a basket (release within the oval).

If you are with 9 players, you can still have 2 on 2 play at a basket (again with the emphasis on getting free to shoot).

There is a shooter in the front court and a rebounder under the post.

  1. The shooter takes the following chances in a fixed order:
    1. Chance 1: Penalty throw (1 point)
    2. Chance 2: Distance shot (2 points)
    3. Chance 3: walkthrough ball (1 point)
    4. Chance 4: short chance behind the basket (1 point)
  2. To cash in on the points, a free throw must then be taken.
  3. If it is hit, the shooter gets the accumulated points. If the free throw is missed, the shooter gets no points.
  4. After a series (the four chances and the free ball), the position is changed.

The player will be focused on scoring the free throw, otherwise he will not get any points. This way we challenge the player to stay focused on scoring.

Too difficult:
Possibly have 2 chances taken to score 1 free throw.

Goal is to make 20 points (can be adjusted if needed).

The focus in this exercise is on finishing chances. If you don't score enough goals quickly enough, you will lose the game.

Objective is to score 2 goals.
The rebounder under the basket plays against the shooter in front of the basket.
Which of the two players scores 2 goals first? Then swap positions.

The rebounder starts as a declarator so the shooter has to shoot on the move.

The rebounder may only shoot when he or she catches the ball in for the bots and when the shooter did not score.

Too easy or too difficult:
  • Then increase or decrease the shot distance.
  • Play with the number of goals they have to score.
  •  To challenge the rebounder, you can choose to have the rebounder start a few meters from the basket. It becomes more difficult for the rebounder to catch the ball in one shot.
  •  Any airball is immediately 2 points for the opponent and thus means change.

In groups of 3 at the basket
Pick up pots in the middle (2 places) when tasks are completed (continue until pots run out, no staking on other posts)
