Volleyball drills
- Divide the team into two groups and have them form two rows facing each other on the 3-meter line.
- Have the players play over the net and then walk around the cone to join the other group.
- On 1 side, parallel to the sideline, place a speed ladder and before joining the line, have the players do a drill through the ladder.
- On the other side, place pawns where they have to slalom, turn around.
- Importantly, the ball should not fall to the ground, communication is important.
- Optionally add a penalty if the ball falls to the ground. Head roll, Back roll.
- First with underhand throwing and catching - then overhand. Catch and push change to toss up and over-key.
Organization:
- Field A. 2 players in pass P4 and P3.
- Sv on P2.
- Field B. Block on P2 and P3.
- Serve P1 and defend P4 and P5.
Execution:
- Service on P3 and P4. Then defend on P1.
- Attack hard if possible and tap otherwise.
- Change after 5 services.
- In the middle of the field a large square is made with 4 benches. Here 2 players stand.
- All balls are distributed in the hall and the other players are waiting for the trainer.
- When the trainer says start, the players must try to get as many balls as possible into the square.
- The 2 players who are in the square throw the balls back out again.
- After 1 minute the trainer checks how many balls are still in the square.
- ATTENTION:
- You may only throw 1 ball at a time in or out of the square!
- Server plays the ball towards position 6
- 1 of the 2 passers, passes the ball towards the playmaker(SV)
- SV plays the ball to the front left or right
- Attacker (A) completes the attack (attack pass to net)
- Attack
server -> passer
passer -> attack
attack -> server
- 4 gives setup on 1 and 1 attacks on 2.
- 2 defends to 3,
- 3 gives setup on 2 and 2 attacks on 1,
- 1 defends on 4 and it starts all over again.
- After 3 and 4 have given 5 setups they switch,
- the challenge is to do this while keeping the ball in play.
- You have 2 teams one is on one side of the field and the other on the other side.
- There is a ball played in the field the ball may fall on the ground 0/1 time the ball is passed by the teams to the other side of the field.
- If the ball either bounces 1/2 time, goes out or wrong technique a team has a point.
- field is divided in 2 parts
- on side 1 are 1 playmaker, the libero and the middle attackers
- on side 2 are the other players
- there are on each side 1 attacker and 1 blocker and a server.
- depending on the number of players there is 1 passer or 2 passers.
- the purpose of this exercise is to get in agreement with the distributor which ball you want to play.
- With the middle players we will practice on the 'rise' balls and other variations such as the 'neck'.
Some variations on the well known butterfly...:
- Service-pass-catch on SU-position, running after the ball.
- As everyone is chasing his/her ball, each player has a different task, but if desired, a player can have a fixed position.
- Variation 1:
- The SU plays a set-up to position 4, where an attacker stands to play a (placed) attack on the receiver.
- The rotation then becomes: Service -passer -upper - attacker - off-side - service etc.
- Variation 2:
- the fixed SU plays a ball to a receiver 'somewhere' in the field, who makes himself known by calling 'here'.
- The SU learns to react on sound, the receiver learns to communicate his position.
- Variation 3:
- The fixed SU plays the pass backwards to position 2, where the receiver, after an attacking movement, catches the ball and starts serving.
- In the diagram is variation 1
- 3 players in the middle play overhand for themselves.
- 2 players outside also play overhand for themselves.
- The outside players run around it.
- And pass in between.
Warm up exercise in relay form
- Divide the players into groups of 2 or 3 players and place them on the left side of the field.
- Give each player a tennis ball.
- At the start sign, the 1st player of each group starts running to the other, right, side with a ball.
- Once there, they put the ball outside the line and run back as fast as they can so that player 2 of their group can start running with his/her ball.
- When all the balls are on the right side and the last player has returned to his/her group, it is over.
- The first one back to his/her group wins.
- The players stand in a diamond in the field.
- On the other side of the field, the hoops are in the corners.
- The trainer/trainer serves easily to the other side.
- On the other side, they try to pass 3 times and then try to drop down into the hoop.
- Playmakers switch between themselves.
- Targeted attacking defender.
- Defender catches ball.
- Runs around pawn.
