Volleyball drills for technique passing / defense / reception

  • just replay in pairs
  • overhand and underhand

Children stand on the backline, the ball is thrown by the trainer, the player passes to the trainer and the trainer throws to the ball again, the goal is to get the pass to the midfielder.

  • row of players behind the back line
  • First player lies down on his belly
  • trainer stands at the other side of the net
  • hits the ball and throws the ball
  • player stands up and passes to midfielder/SV
  • SV catches or grabs the ball and passes to trainer
  • passer becomes SV
  • try to keep a high tempo

  • low net
  • 2 passers, 1 off-set (SV), 2 server/BH throwers
  • servers throw the ball tight to the passers
  • passer plays ball to centre, centre catches ball
  • everyone 1 place through
    • passer right , becomes passer left
    • passer left becomes SV
    • SV becomes thrower
    • thrower becomes passer right
  • If throwing goes well, it can also be done with serving.
  • low net
  • 2 passers, 1 dropkicker (SV), 2 server/BH throwers
  • servers throw the ball tight to the passers
  • passer plays the ball to the centre, centre catches it
  • everyone turn 1 spot forward
    • passer right , becomes passer left
    • passer left becomes SV

just everybody practice for themselves

  • Catch and throw with outstretched arms.
  • Throwing up high and catching
  • throwing up high, BH and catching
  • throwing up high, OH and catching
  • make a number of fields. e.g. 6 half fields
    • one plays 1-1
  • let everyone play the same match
    • eg 1-1 catch + bra
    • who has 2 points first
  • one outside field is field 1, other outside field is field 6
  • the winners advance 1 space towards field 6
  • the losers move 1 space towards field 1
  • winner on 6 remains standing
  • loser on 1 stays on

In this way you can differentiate nicely:

  • on field 5 and 6 come up with more difficult variations:
    • throwaway move with 3x BH or
    • OH + BH
    • After playing ball move over back line and back.
  • Via catching / throwing movement over the net (usually frontal).
  • Throwing up and back over the net with a catching and throwing motion.
  • Catch and throw movement overhead over the net.
  • Catch and throw movement and underarms over the net.
  • First learn the game well (playing together, let the children concentrate on one accent).

After that matches (resistance, playing against each other).

  • 3 teams
  • 1 at the net
  • other 2 on 2 sides in the back of the field
  • B throws ball at A
  • B passes under the net
  • A plays the ball UNDER HANDS to C
  • C plays the ball UNDER HAND to B
  • B catches the ball
  • B throws the ball to C
  • B passes under the net
  • C over the net to A

float

  • row of players with the trainer
  • The first one pushes the ball into the trainer's hands.
  • player stands in line left or right
  • players can play BH and/or OH
  • is about PLAY and DIRECTaction

If the exercise runs well:

  • then the receiver can play the ball bra along the net
  • Also run after your own ball again
  • Receiver catches ball and joins in line with trainer
  • 2 players are standing not too far from each other and pass the ball with 1 stretched arm
  • so left of the body with left arm and right of the body with right arm
  • this exercise is a preparation for service pass arms next to the body

2 fields, 2 teams of minimum 6 players per team.

Per field

  • 2 rows of players
    • 1 row at the left back
    • 1 row at the right back
  • Create with 3 pawns a virtual line where they should stand.
  • Trainer stands at the other side of the net and throws the ball somewhere in the field.
  • One of the two front row players calls out LOS orIK (let's agree) and plays the ball to the front row.
  • The other player catches the ball. Preferably on the midfield position.
  • The catcher puts the ball in the box with the trainer.
  • Both players join the back of the row.
  • Team scores points per ball as follows
    • 1 point if ball is called and played by player calling LOS
    • 1 point if the ball is caught by the 2nd player
    • 1 point if the ball is played to the centre.
    • 25 points per set
  • Trainers referee their own team and are strict about scoring.
  • To ensure accuracy, both trainers throw on both fields at the same time.
