Throwing and catching the ball on one leg
Objective
- To improve balance and stability by passing the ball to each other while standing on one leg.
- Players stand in pairs facing each other on the court.
- Both players stand on one leg.
- One player has a ball.
- Player 1 throws the ball to Player 2.
- Player 2 catches the ball and throws it back to Player 1.
- Both the passer and the receiver remain on one leg while throwing and catching.
- The coach determines the number of times the ball is passed back and forth.
- Use different sizes of basketballs or other types of balls.
- Change the distance between the players.
- Vary the types of passes, such as chest pass or bounce pass.
- Ensure the feet are pointing straight forward and are slightly more than shoulder-width apart.
- Distribute the weight over the balls of the feet, not on the toes.
- Keep the heels on the ground.
- Keep the knees bent.
- Keep the back straight.
