Korfball drills for technique warming-up

Inshort: exercises in catching balls that bounce or roll at the right moment.

Organisation: one ball per pair or trio.

(a) The numbers 1 and 2 of each pair stand next to each other. Number 1 rolls the ball a few metres away. Number 2 has to get the ball, pick it up and throw it back as fast as possible. Change after 5 games. Make sure the players 'get' the ball as soon as possible by putting one hand on it as soon as possible.

b ) As a., but now number 1 throws the ball away with a small curve, in such a way that it bounces on the ball at a distance of about 4 metres (and then makes a bounce of about half a metre high). Number 2 must try to get the ball as soon as possible after the bounce.

c ) As b., but now number 1 drops the ball from a height of 1.5 metres just in front of number 2. He/she has to try again to get the ball as soon as possible after the bounce. It will appear that almost everyone lets the ball rise a little and then catches it. Wrong (in the meantime an opponent can quickly put his/her hand on the ball). At the very moment that the ball is about to come up, the hand should be placed on the ball Take that ball!

e ) Three teams, the ball stays in the middle. He rolls the ball a few meters away. As soon as the ball is loose, the other two may run. Who has the ball first? Change after 3 times.

d ) As d., but now the ball is thrown by the declarer with a small curve, in such a way that the ball bounces on a distance of about 4 meters (and would make a bounce of about half a meter high). Which of the two 'workers' is first to get the ball by putting his hand on it?

f ) As e., but now from under a basket. The one who gets the ball first may make a turnover ball.

g ) Like b., but now with threes. Who reacts the fastest?

simple running exercises for warming up, in which concentration and reaction also play an important role. Organisation: Pairs in an empty, marked out space.

Walk behind each other in a steady pace, criss-crossing the whole room. Number 2 follows every movement of number 1 as fast as possible, keeping about 1 metre distance. After a while change.

As a., but now the front runner tries to lose the back runner by sudden feints and/or tempo changes.

As a., but now other movements are also allowed: cross passes, jumping, lying down quickly and getting up again, etc.

Variations:

  • Perform the same exercises with music
  • Do the same exercises in groups of three or four. In this form, 'comical' situations will certainly occur now and then. It doesn't have much to do with korfball then.
  • No more pairs: everyone walks freely through each other. The players walk towards each other, feint and then pass to the left.
  • Like d., but now passing on the right
  • Like d., but now they turn around each other and walk back.
  • Special exercise for getting used to the hall: walk criss-cross through the whole hall, but not touching any line. Especially in halls with a lot of lines on the floor this is a good and fun exercise to get the 'contact with the hall' back in the legs.
  • Like g., but now keep walking on the lines.

In short:
start and sprint game.

Organisation:
Pairs on either side of a line in the middle of the hall. The numbers 1, standing slightly left of the line, are the rats and the numbers 2, standing half a metre right of the line, are the ravens. Between the rats and the ravens there is a space of 1 meter. The trainer now calls continuously 'rats' or 'ravens' in random order. When 'rats' is called, the rats run as fast as possible to their side of the room. The ravens must then try to tap the rats.

* Who has their personal opponent tapped the most times?

Clue:

To keep it exciting, roll the 'r' for a good long time or make it a short story.

catch-and-throw-12 teams. Per pair 1 ball and 1 pawn. Player A stays on his spot. Player B starts with the pawn, which is about 10 meters away. Player B runs to player A. Player A throws (with 1 hand) the ball to player B. Player B keeps running until he has caught the ball and then stops. B throws the ball back and runs to the pawn to start the exercise again. after 10x change.

The whole group walks a circle around the yellow lines in the middle in a line. When the trainer calls 'yes', the person at the back of the line starts running as fast as possible. The children do this by pulling a sprint.

Options:
The children run after each other around the yellow lines in a line. The person at the front of the line can do whatever he wants for example: heels buttocks, sprints, lifts his knees etc. Whenthe trainer calls 'yes' the person at the back of the line starts to run as fast as possible and can choose what he wants to do. It must be something other than normal running/jogging, it may be sprinting.

Complete team: One person is the ticker, and must tick off everyone. The other people have 2 balls at their disposal which they can pass around. You are not allowed to be tapped when you have the ball in your hands. So if the ticker is running to someone, you have to throw the ball to this player. Of course you are not allowed to hold on to the ball endlessly.

Place a number of cones/caps 2 to 3 metres apart. Make two rows of cones and divide the team into two groups.

The exercise is quite simple. Two pawns spinning and one pawn in defensive position back. Then repeat the exercise again, so two pawns forward and one pawn back.

Pairs, running around the circle of pawns.

When you hear a 'YES' you try to pass the ball as fast as possible. Then the other runs around the circle. At a series of 4, the pair has a point.

Until three points.

Warm up over 1/4 of the field.

Practise on the short side:

hopping

heels against the buttocks

step tap the ground

jump

step out far and find balance

Korfball in 1 section. An attacking and a defending side, preferably 4 against 4, possibly with substitutes.Â

The attacking side puts the ball in play and tries to score a goal. After scoring or intercepting, the defending side attacks.Â

In the first case, the ball is taken out about 15 m. in front of the basket, in the second case it is first combined to this starting point.Â

After losing the ball, the attacking side can try to intercept. If this is successful before the ball has been played to the starting point, a goal opportunity may be exploited immediately.Â

Note:
Emphasis is on playing the ball well and defending consistently.Â

Variation:

After a goal, the attacking side keeps the attacking position. The team plays 2 minutes on ball possession. If the team succeeds in keeping the ball in the team for that long or in scoring another goal, the goal is valid. If the defence intercepts the ball, the point is forfeited.
