Volleyball drills

  • 2 teams
  • overhead transfer
  • first time for yourself up then to your teammate

cmv-walk-in-playmaker-2

  • the system is:
    • if 2 or 3 plays the first ball, 4 runs to the front of the team to set up a setup
    • when 1 or 4 plays the first ball, 3 runs to the midfield to give a setup
  • put the team on the right positions
  • coach hits the ball and throws/serves the ball over the net to the team
    • the first ball is claimed by a player (call LOS / I agree on that)
    • As soon as the ball is played by the trainer, it is clear to 3 and 4 whether it must go to the front.
    • So the player has to be in the position of the centre as soon as possible.
  • if all goes well play on and set uppen ball along the net and 2nd ball over play
    • if necessary put a hoop where the ball has to go in.
  • if it does not go well stop and
    • explain who should have called it loose etc
    • Did the playmaker walk on time. etc
  • after every good ball turn
  • if there are enough players available (> 4), use someone to get the ball at the trainer's side and put it in the box
  • PAY SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO:
    • playmaker right leg in front
    • body first in direction of 1 where the ball comes from
    • then the body turns through energy from the left foot along the net
    • eventually the knees point over the feet in the direction of play
  • Row 1 players ready to stop ball
  • Row 2 players behind trainer with ball
    • Front pushes trainer ball in hand and joins row 1
  • Trainer rolls ball and player from row 1:
    • Stops ball with right hand
    • Stops ball with left hand
    • Stops ball with foot
    • Runs around and sits in front of the ball, rolling the ball between the legs
    • Runs around it and lies down in front of the ball, holding it still with outstretched arms
  • High tempo!

cmv-walk-in-playmaker

  • Divide the group in 4 and divide them equally over position 1,2,3 and 4.
  • There they make rows
  • Trainer throws ball to 1 (possibly hit ball as sign)
    • 2 runs to the middle (because the ball comes from 1)
  • 1 plays to midfielder
    • after playing the ball 1 walks to row 2
  • 2 plays the ball along the net
    • when the ball is played, 2 goes to line at 3
  • at the moment that 2 touches the ball 3 runs to the net
  • 3 plays the ball quietly over the net to 4
    • after play 3 connects with row 1
  • 4 gives the ball to the trainer
  • after a couple of rounds replace 4.
  • PAY SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO:
    • playmaker right leg in front
    • body first in direction of 1 where the ball comes from
    • then the body turns through energy from the left foot along the net
    • eventually the knees point over the feet in the direction of play
  • If necessary the next player in line 2 can check if the playmaker has his right foot in front during play.
    • If yes: then this one calls "GOOD".
    • If not: call out "FOOT".
    • (only do this if the exercise runs smoothly on its own)

the two of us. 1 works, other has rest

  1. going up and down bench with 2 legs at the same time
  2. bench up and down, alternately left and right
  3. Push-ups, remember that their backs are straight.
  4. Absorbent muscle: arms crossed, legs up, shoulders up 20 cm
  5. Stand between 2 lines and move LAOW and touch the side lines
  6. Jump over buddy and after landing crawl through the legs of your buddy
  • 4 (or 6) cones per team
  • Have them put the cones in the right place in the field.
  • Have them discuss when both teams have finished evaluating:
    • Why did they put it this way?
  • At the end of the day, make sure the cones are positioned correctly and throw a ball at certain spots
    • Who is the ball for?
    • Make clear that (in principle) only that person takes the ball.
    • The rest is busy with the second ball.
  • Catch the second ball and roll it to the trainer.
  • This exercise is about insight and understanding.
  • Performing well is more important than performing fast.
  • 2 rows
  • net in between
  • make a very small field
  • it is the intention to let all other players make mistakes
  • to start the game 1st ball easy!
  • all next balls can be as difficult as possible.
  • If the ball goes well, the player at the end of the row again.
  • If the ball goes wrong (in and out counts) player next to it.
  • until there is 1 left.

all of us building the nets

  • do this exercise 10 minutes
  • if player plays OH 100 times, player enters CLUB of 100
  • make a list with all players and 10 columns (10, 20, 30 etc)
  • 2 players with 1 ball (preferably 2 players with the same milestone)
  • player 1 as many keys as possible, player 2 counts
  • if ball goes wrong, change
  • at the end put a check mark behind his possible new milestone (10, 20, 30 etc)

with push-ups wedo more or less the same:

  • let everyone in 1 session as many times as possible GOOD presses
  • remember to have a straight back and nose (almost) on the ground
  • they count each other again
  • at the end of the session fill in any new PR in the column push-ups

This exercise assumes that the players know where they must stand and which zone is for them. So explain this well in advance

  • Players stand in the correct zone
  • Trainer serves/ throws the ball
  • After every service, turn around.
  • Serve only when they think they are in the right position
    • Also serve if they are not positioned correctly and serve on the uncovered position.
  • They have to correct each other where they should stand.
  • Throw a ball into a difficult zone every now and then. Who was this ball for?
  • It's about recognizing your own zone. Who takes which ball? Call loose when in doubt etc
  • Make clear agreements in advance!

Run laps to warm up. Suitable for the beginning of the training

  1. bench up and down with 2 legs simultaneously
  2. bench up and down, alternating left and right
  3. Push-ups, remember that they have their back straight.
  4. Between 2 lines and move LOW and tap on the side lines
  5. At the net and only blocks. Hands at shoulders and jump up from knees
  6. Jump over buddy and after landing crawl through the legs of your buddy
