Volleyball drills

  • All players on 1 side.
  • 1 catcher on 2/3.
  • The rest on the 3 yards. Right and then left.
Exercise:
  1. Player sprints around the pawn.
  2. Once player is around the pawn TR throws the ball up. Pass to 2/3 catcher.
Extension:
  1. 1 solid SV at 2/3.
  2. Player sprints around the pawn.
  3. As soon as the player is around the pawn TR throws the ball up. Pass to SV and attack own ball at 52.
Note: if unable to attack well then ready an attacker at 52 and the passer becomes attacker.

Running to the net and:

  1. Jump through; block and return. Slightly through the knees.
  2. Block with 1 lateral pass right and block again.
  3. Blocks with 1 side pass right and blocks and again to left side pass and block.
  4. Same as number 3 but then with Cross 'inside' right and again left.
    • Info: if to right blocks start with your left leg, if to left blocks, start right leg.
  5. Same as number 3 but with Cross 'outside'.
    • Info: if to right blocks right leg must also open to make your jump more powerful. reverse to left blocks.
  6. Block with 1 lateral pass right, idem to left. Straight inside cross, same to left. Straight outside cross, idem to the left.

1. Player with ball holds it high, other player grabs ball in 'block' and back. 2x10 each.
2. Player with ball throws ball at +/- 20-30cm above the net, other blocks it back. 2x10 each.
3. Player with ball smashes ball, blocker anticipates attack ! 2x10 each.

  1. Throwing ball. Pay attention to posture, do it slowly but do it well. 3 minutes.
  2. Hit ball under the net, throw up with spin.
  3. Hit ball above net aimed, soft to person, hip open. The other person catches the ball.
  4. Ball is thrown from other side, then you hit it.
  5. Player A throws up with spin, and hits to player B, B does OH to player A, player A passes to player B who hits to player C and so on. Just out of position, without jumping.
  6. Now at the net.
  7. Player A throws ball up with spin, and hits ball to player B, B does OH to player A, B goes to pos IV, player A passes to pos IV player B who hits to player C and so on. Attack at position 4.
Groups of 4 players.
  • Exercise 1.
    • Player A at pos IV, does 4 pass run-up to net, then comes backwards.
    • Player B throws easy ball to player A, who plays OH back to player B.
    • Player B does setup and player A does 4 pass run-up and catches the ball overhead with arms extended.

  • Exercise 2.
    • Player A and D in position IV, does 4 pass run-up to net and then comes backwards.
    • Player C throws ball into the backfield, player A tries to play it back.
    • Player B throws easy ball to player A, who plays OH back to player B.
    • Player B does setup and player A does 4 pass run-up and catches the ball overhead with outstretched arms.

  • Passing through Player A becomes C => B => D => A

  • Exercise 3
    • Same as exercise 2 but player C does attack to player A.

  • Exercise 4
    • Player A and D in position IV, player A does 4 passes approaching the net and then comes backwards.
    • Player B passer, starts from position I.
    • Player C other side of field, player D also has a ball.
    • Player A executes dry attack.
    • Player C throws easy high ball over to player A.
    • Player A plays OH to Passeur, (if ball cannot be set, then player D throws high ball to player B), D retrieves ball.
    • Player B, plays OH back to player A, who plays ball back to player B
    • Player B, passes to player A, who runs and attacks to position 1 where player C is standing. Player C defends ball for himself and catches off.

  • A and D always switch places
  • C and B exchange remain standing
  • After 10 x C and B swap with A and D. Then again and again so that everyone has given pass.

Everyone is spread out on the outside of the field. Spaced sufficiently apart.

  1. 4 step run-up, with hand clapping from trainer.
  2. Now with small, small, big, axe.
  3. Small, small, jump, add.
  4. Slow, slow, fast, fast, explosive.
  5. Arm movement with it.
  6. Torso forward.
  7. Jump in.
  8. Add arm movement and turn torso.
Everyone works against wall with tennis ball and then volleyball.

  1. Throw tennis ball against wall and catch back 10 x.
  2. Throw tennis ball up and hit against wall 10 x.
  3. Volleyball hit against wall and catch 10 x.
  4. Volleyball hit against wall and keep hitting 10 x.
  5. Volleyball hit against wall and play OH up and hit back 10 x.
  6. Volleyball hitting against wall and playing BH up and hitting back 10 x.
  7. Volleyball hitting against wall alternating OH and BH play and hitting back 10 x.

  • 3 servers on one side of the net.
  • 2 rows of the remaining players.
  • From both rows 1 into the court. So a total of 2.
  • Servers take turns serving.
  • 2 players in the court pass the ball to the other player, who set the ball, 3rd ball over it.

Start all together on the back line.
We are one team so we stay on one line and do everything 3 times.


On the coach's cue:
  • Quiet run to the net, tap ML and return backwards.
  • To the net with right knee raise and back left knee.
  • To the net with heel-butt right and back left.
  • To the net combined with right knee lift and right heel-butt.
  • To the net and back in sprint to 7meter line.
  • To the net combined with left knee lift and left heel-butt.
  • To the net and back in sprint to 7 meter line.
  • Slow run to the net, touch ML and backward back.
  • Starts with 1 ticker.
  • When someone is tapped, they shake hands and tap together.
  • Form a long pendulum until everyone is tagged.
2 groups:
6 offensive players
4 defensive players


  • Trainer starts with a throw-on at position 6
  • Player at position 6 passes the ball to SV -3-.
  • SV plays ball to position 4 for attack.

  • 4- puts a block and defends the ball. If the ball is defended the rally continues.
  • Note a blocker and someone in the backfield. After single ball routing.
  • Emphasis is on attack. Smash.
  • Rotating players.
6 vs. 4 free play.
4-talstarts service themselves.
Rotate.
Organization:

  • Field by 4.
  • A and B in defense positions V and I.
  • C on raise.
  • D serve, after serve ball pick up.
  • Band with 4 balls.
  • Raise is on position 4.

1st exercise attack position IV:

  1. D does simple serve to A or B.
  2. A and B build up and play ball over it D catches off and puts ball in band.
  3. A and B assume starting position on 3 meter line.
  4. C hits ball after which A and B shuffle backwards with A on position 1 -feet straight- B on pos IV -slanting-. C attacks, A and B build up and get back in starting position on 3 meter line.
  5. D throws ball up from behind the 3 meter line, A and B shuffle backwards, and keys ball high into the backfield -not to score- . A and B defend and build up.
  6. After 10 times, A and B switch with C and D.
2nd drill:

  1. A and B stand in reception at positions V and I, and move to the front after building up.
  2. C tips the ball, left or right, doesn't matter. First 5 balls easy, then 5 more difficult balls. A and B build up and play over.
  3. After build up, or ball away, back to player D. This plays short over the net. Defending.
3rd exercise:
Organization A , B, and C the passer stand in reception.
  1. D throws ball easily over, build-up and over play go:
  2. A at position IV , B at position V and C at position I.
  3. D crawls on the raise and plays to A or B.
  4. C comes running in from position I and builds back up there is easy play to D.
  5. Back to starting position, D now plays short to A.
