Volleyball drills for technique system

play 3 against 3

  • 1 player at midfield
  • 2 defenders
  • Trainer throws the ball to the midfielder
  • He passes to SV
  • SV gives setup
  • Striker plays ball SLIMLY over the net
    • so just over the net
    • OR in the back of the field in the corners
  • OPTIONAL: the new player calls HELL (=fault) or GOOD (=good) after the smart ball of the attacker
  • Attacker gets the ball and puts it with trainer (in the box)
  • Everybody turns 1 place (runs after their own ball)
  • If necessary put hoops (= opponents) where they should not play.
  • Give instructions all the time
    • playing-tactically

cmv-walk-in-playmaker-variant-3

  • the system is:
    • if 2 or 3 plays the first ball, 4 runs to the front to setup
    • when 1 or 4 plays the first ball, 3 runs to the midfield to give a setup
  • put the players on the right positions
  • trainer hits the ball and throws/serves the ball over the net to the team
    • the first ball is claimed by a player(call LOS / I as early as possible: make an agreement about this)
    • At the moment that the ball is played by the trainer, it is already clear to 3 and 4 whether it has to go to the front.
    • So the player has to be on the position of the centre as soon as possible.
  • if all goes well continue to play and set the ball along the net and 3rd ball over the play.
    • if necessary put 4 hoops where the ball should NOT go (virtual opponents).
  • if it does not go well stop and
    • Explain who should have called it loose etc.
    • Did the playmaker walk on time. etc
  • after 4 service turns turn good ball
  • if there are enough players available (> 4), use someone to get the ball at the trainer's side and put it in the box
  • PAY SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO:
    • call loose in time
    • run in offside players in time
  • make 3 teams, as many own teams as possible
  • 2 teams against each other, 1 referee
    • note: playing in 3 is bonus point
  • 5 Â minutes per game
  • 3rd team will play BH against the wall for 5 (or more if time allows) minutes
    • how many times in a row?
  • after 5 minutes 1 team will continue to play.
  • write down the results, so that there is a winner.

cmv-walk-in-playmaker-2

  • the system is:
    • if 2 or 3 plays the first ball, 4 runs to the front of the team to set up a setup
    • when 1 or 4 plays the first ball, 3 runs to the midfield to give a setup
  • put the team on the right positions
  • coach hits the ball and throws/serves the ball over the net to the team
    • the first ball is claimed by a player (call LOS / I agree on that)
    • As soon as the ball is played by the trainer, it is clear to 3 and 4 whether it must go to the front.
    • So the player has to be in the position of the centre as soon as possible.
  • if all goes well play on and set uppen ball along the net and 2nd ball over play
    • if necessary put a hoop where the ball has to go in.
  • if it does not go well stop and
    • explain who should have called it loose etc
    • Did the playmaker walk on time. etc
  • after every good ball turn
  • if there are enough players available (> 4), use someone to get the ball at the trainer's side and put it in the box
  • PAY SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO:
    • playmaker right leg in front
    • body first in direction of 1 where the ball comes from
    • then the body turns through energy from the left foot along the net
    • eventually the knees point over the feet in the direction of play
  • 4 (or 6) cones per team
  • Have them put the cones in the right place in the field.
  • Have them discuss when both teams have finished evaluating:
    • Why did they put it this way?
  • At the end of the day, make sure the cones are positioned correctly and throw a ball at certain spots
    • Who is the ball for?
    • Make clear that (in principle) only that person takes the ball.
    • The rest is busy with the second ball.
  • Catch the second ball and roll it to the trainer.
  • This exercise is about insight and understanding.
  • Performing well is more important than performing fast.

This exercise assumes that the players know where they must stand and which zone is for them. So explain this well in advance

  • Players stand in the correct zone
  • Trainer serves/ throws the ball
  • After every service, turn around.
  • Serve only when they think they are in the right position
    • Also serve if they are not positioned correctly and serve on the uncovered position.
  • They have to correct each other where they should stand.
  • Throw a ball into a difficult zone every now and then. Who was this ball for?
  • It's about recognizing your own zone. Who takes which ball? Call loose when in doubt etc
  • Make clear agreements in advance!
  • Team MUST play in 3 x (in case of score 2 points, in rally 1 bonus point).
    • so the team has no points if it goes in once or twice.
  • Trainer can go 1, 2 or 3 times.
  • At 3 times trainer has bonus points too.
  • Pay attention to the line-up (bowl), call loose, and play in threes, technique not important.

Team line-up

Team formation! New in square!

  • 2 against 2 half field (or slightly larger than half)
  • Field 1 serves
  • If you score you move to field 2
  • You have to play in 3 teams
  • If field 2 scores, it may stay and the serving side joins the back of the group.
  • The one who stays on field 2 has a point
  • The one who does not press the button(LOS CALL) has to go to the net ON TIME.
  • Preferably 4 teams of 2 but that depends on the size of the group.
  • Otherwise on 2 fields (at least 3 teams per field)
  • Play a game with as many own teams as possible
  • pay attention to the rules of the game:
    • BONUSPUNT: if played in 3s
    • but can also play in 1 or 2x if it is not possible to play in a different way.
    • STIMULATE so play 3 times
  • Possible 3rd team goes against 1 or 2 trainers
    • adjust the rules for trainers in such a way that it is somewhat equivalent.
    • e.g. trainers must play in 3
