Volleyball drills for technique system

  • The team starts in basic formation.
  • MV moves to the left and together with LV sets up a block.
  • The other players move to corresponding defensive position.
  • Trainer checks and corrects position of players.

  • MV moves to the right to block with RV/SV.
  • The other players move to the corresponding defensive position.
  • Trainer checks and corrects position of players.
  • Repeat this number of times in one motion, rotating frequently so everyone has been in each position.
  • Player 1 at position LF at the net, player 2 at MA to defend.
  • Player 3 (= SV) on RA (use pawn to indicate RV position; SV has to start behind it).

  • LF throws ball to MA with arc.
  • SV runs in at that point from RA, around the pawn (RV on ~3 meter line) to SV position (between MV and RV position)
  • MA passes the ball to SV
  • SV catches the ball above the head (all players turn 1 spot, or repeat exercise 5 times)

  • Can be extended with setup to LF where
    • player 1 throws the ball from the net
    • then goes to the 3 meter line (for the run to attack)
    • simulates an attack and takes care of the setup.
  • If necessary expand with an attack instead of catching.

butterfly-6

  • A serves at B
  • B plays into C
  • C sets up and B plays over the net
  • Run after own ball
    add
    libero
    on 6 and possible block
  • 6 players stand on position in the field.
  • The rest on the other side. Save and occasionally bring in a fast ball by trainer.
  • After 5 times turn around.
  • or let the team save by themselves.

This exercise assumes that the players know where they must stand and which zone is for them. So explain this well in advance

  • Players stand in the right zone
  • Reserve player serves the ball
  • Block/defence, trainer throws in the ball
  • After every service turn.
  • Serve only when they think they are in the right position
    • Also serve if they are not in the right position and serve on the uncovered position.
  • They have to correct each other where they should stand.
  • Throw a ball into the difficult zone every now and then. Who was this ball for?
  • It's about recognizing your own zone. Who takes which ball? Call loose when in doubt etc
  • Make clear agreements in advance!
  • Teams stand on both sides of the net.
  • Explain three plays --> pass/set-up, catch throw, pass/set-up over the net.
  • Play overhand from the backline. After three serves of one player, the team rotates one spot.
  • They don't have to leave the field after a 'mistake'. For every ball that falls on the ground the opponent gets a point.
  • Side A: team line-up, other people on the other side.
    • Service from side A
  • Team on side B must hit the first two attacks,
  • 3rd attack may only be hit,
  • Punch at critical spots in the defense.
  • Trainer throws the ball to the middle player
  • He passes to SV
  • SV gives setup
  • Attacker plays the ball SLIMLY over the net
    • so just obver the net
    • Or in the back of the field in the corners
  • On the other side there are 2 people blocking and defending behind.
  • Attacker gets the ball and puts it with trainer (in the box)
  • Everybody turns 1 spot (runs after their own ball)
  • Give instructions all the time
    • playing-tactically-2
  • 3 teams
  • 1 at the net
  • other 2 on 2 sides in the back of the field
  • B throws ball at A
  • B passes under the net
  • A plays the ball UNDER HANDS to C
  • C plays the ball UNDER HAND to B
  • B catches the ball
  • B throws the ball to C
  • B passes under the net
  • C over the net to A

  • side A: team set-up, other people on the other side.
    • Service from side A
  • Team on side B must hit the first two attacks,
  • 3rd attack may only be hit,
  • Puncture where critical in defense.
  • Team setup, when possible on two sides.
    • 1 side serves the team
    • team that receives service tries to score.
    • After scoring 3 times, rotate 1 position.

The field is divided into two parts using an aerial. The teams are divided into two teams of equal players. We play a match to 10 points.

- The first five points we play on the left side of one field and the other field. So the players have to play diagonally.

- From 5 they play straight ahead 1 team has to shift on its field.

- from 10 points they play diagonally again but the other team has to shift.

- from 15 points onwards they play straight again but on the other side.

It is important that they look carefully at the field layout.

It is important that the players pay attention to the field layout. When they are positioned diagonally, they have to pay attention to the fact that the ball will fall into the field along the right side of the middle antenna. The same when they are on the left that it should fall on the left.
