Volleyball drills for technique attack / smash / spike / hitting

4 gives setup on 1 and 1 attacks on 2. 2 defends to 3, 3 gives setup on 2 and 2 attacks on 1, 1 defends on 4 and it starts all over again.

After 3 and 4 have given 5 setups they are exchanged, the challenge is to do this while keeping the ball in play.

Hang the net on the lowest position and let the children attack. Pay special attention to the attacking pass and stroke!

Start

  • Right handed: left, right, left
  • Left handed: right, left, right
  • just not too high
  • chalk line on the ground
  • players on length together

Exercise 1. with 2 to each other throwing the ball, after first attacking towards the net, alternating.

Exercise 2. in pairs: run up with 1 ball in your hand and release it at the backswing (look where the ball lands!), alternating turns.

Exercise 3. each to himself: run with arm swing and other arm touching upper side of net (edge) [to get 2 arms in the air]. Throw the ball down (if that doesn't work, you can also ask to pass the ball in the air from one hand to your hitting hand).

Exercise 4

  • Throw the ball by the trainer and hit the ball (if Tanita is there we can make 2 rows. Distribution on length.

Pay attention to the run, not to the beautiful ball.

  • You jump with your arms!
  • Hit the ball with your belly!

Trainer throws ball to attacker. The attacker smashes the ball into the opposite field where 3 defenders are standing to defend the ball. A 4 player stands as sv at the net. He tries to block the ball first.

After defending he/she builds up an attack. Then another ball. After 10 times another attacker comes.

hard-attack-scores

Team A serves, team B must try to score through a hard attack. If they don't succeed they have to leave and their place is taken by the other 3 team on hold. If they succeed, they can stay. Who makes the most scores in a row? Let them count themselves.
3-meter is allowed.

Hammering on the fact that they have to be precise when taking their UGP. Wait a long time before running, react to the setup.

Good timing in the middle. For us that means jumping when the SV plays the ball.

switching-from-defence-to-attack-3-against-4- C attacks diagonally on 3 and 4

- 1 after block attack (2 does not participate due to the number of players)

- 3 and 4 defend, playmaker comes in

- set-up to 1 or 3, attack to 3 defenders. 1 may attack behind or at midfield - agree in advance

- They defend for themselves and put the ball in the box.

- After a few balls the players change position (preferably on their own).

Variations:

1. 1, 2 and 3 can play back/attack the ball on the half of '3 and 4'.

2. Order to attackers 1 and 3 to play the ball on a specific position (e.g. tap in the middle or at the back of the field).

3 against 4

Put the thick mat against the net.

The attacker should hit their attack against the thick mat. The defenders should be behind the attacker to defend the ball.

Needs:

(outside attacker 4, middle attacker 3, playmaker 2, outside attacker 5)

  • Tr plays the ball to defender B
  • B passes to sv sv gives a setup to position 2, 3 or 4
  • C attack
  • D take care of the blocking
  • E tries to defend the ball

  • Coach throws the ball to passer/runner 1.
  • He passes to position 3, after which the distributor steps in.
  • SV sets up passer/runner 1 or centre 1(X1).

  • Passer/runner and center attack when they have the chance,
    • Otherwise they must pass to the centre,
  • in such a way that the free net defender (2) and the centre back (3) cannot reach it and the ball does not fall into the shaded area of the court.

  • I use this exercise as a preparation for a game in which the opponent defends in a 3-2-1 formation and the weakest link is the center back.
  • The ball must be pricked where the free net defender cannot reach it and where it still falls far enough before 3.

Training rhythm and cadence for the playmaker.

Explanation of the exercise:
This exercise is useful for playmakers who want to get rhythm and cadence in their set-ups. In this way, the playmakers get a lot of ball contact and can set-up a lot.

The outfielder passes. The centre, preferably three, comes in from the left, hits the ball and turns it in again on the right. The next one is on the right, goes to the left, etc. These players, seen from above, turn 8s. The coach brings in the balls and can set the pace.

Of course, you can later have the middle players pass and go out and rock. By first coming in from the left, then from the right Of course, later on the centre can pass and the outfield player can rock by coming in first from the left and then from the right.

Duration of the exercise:
10-15 min

  • 1 of the 2 team throws the ball to the net,
  • The net player tries to tap the ball through.
  • On the other side of the net is also a team of 2
  • who then tries to do the same.
  • Then try to play through by passing to the net.

An exercise for the attacker. The attacker has to be available for a second attack after a block.

First the middle attackers. At the net stand the playmaker (S) and a head blocker (1) ready to start blocking. Next to them stands the trainer (T) with a ball. Three defenders (4, 5 and 6) are standing at the back of the court.

ready-for-the-attack-1

  • The trainer hits the ball, and 1 and S block together.
  • During the block the trainer smashes the ball to 4, 5 or 6.
  • As soon as 1 is on the ground again after the block, 1 moves backwards for the attack run.
  • 4, 5 or 6 defend the ball.
  • S gives a setup to 1.
  • 1 smashes the ball
  • 1 retrieves the ball.
  • 2 takes the place of 1 (1,2 and 3 rotate)

Then the outside attackers who for a change will attack on the right. The playmaker (S) stands in the middle and the outfielder (1) stands on the right. Next to them again the trainer (T) and in the field the defenders (4, 5 and 6).

  • The trainer hits the ball, whereupon 1 and S block together.
  • During the block the trainer smashes the ball to 4, 5 or 6.
  • As soon as 1 is on the ground again after the block, 1 moves backwards for the attack run.
  • 4, 5 or 6 defend the ball.
  • S gives a setup backwards to 1.
  • 1 smashes the ball
  • 1 retrieves the ball.
  • 2 takes the place of 1 (1,2 and 3 rotate)
