Exercises for Ball Control
- Roll to the right side of the body
- Roll back to the left
- Pass the ball through the legs forward
- Pass the ball through the legs backward
- Roll the ball forward between the legs
- Roll the ball backward between the legs
- Walk forward in a squat position, dribble the ball once between the legs, and pass it
- Walk backward in a squat position, dribble the ball once between the legs, and pass it
- Walk forward, clap once when you throw the ball up and catch it
- Walk forward and push the ball in a zigzag motion
Execution
- Divide all players into groups of two.
- Place a cone between the two players in each group.
- The coach calls out different commands such as: 'head', 'ground', 'knees'.
- For each command, the players mimic what the coach calls out.
- When the coach calls 'cone', both players try to grab the cone as quickly as possible.
- The player who grabs the cone first wins.
Execution
- Form rows of three players.
- Two players stand at the ends and pass the ball to each other.
- A third player stands as a defender in the middle.
- The player who has passed the ball runs to the middle to defend.
- The player who was previously defending runs to the position of the player who passed the ball.
- The roles rotate continuously among the players.
Objective
- The objective is for the team to be the first to score 10 points through lay-ups.
- Divide the players into two teams and assign each team a basket.
- The teams score points by making lay-ups.
- The first team to reach 10 points wins the contest.
- To make the exercise more challenging, cones can be added near the teams to train extra agility.
- The team that loses performs a penalty such as jumping jacks or push-ups.
Setup
- Arrange the children in two lines.
- Each line has one basketball.
- Instruct the children to dribble with one hand.
- With the other hand, they stack cones one by one.
Setup
- Children are arranged in two lines.
- Participants weave between the cones towards the upright cone.
- The first one to set the cone upright grabs the ball.
- The player with the ball dribbles towards the basket to score.
- The other player tries to defend as effectively as possible.
Setup
- Players stand opposite each other in two lines, facing each other.
- From the ready position, pass the ball to the player diagonally opposite you.
- The receiver catches the ball and passes it to the next player diagonally opposite them.
- Repeat this until the last player in the line has the ball and passes it to the player directly opposite them.
- Then start again.
- After a few successful rounds with one ball, the coach adds a second ball to the drill.
- Depending on the number of players, a third or fourth ball can be added.
- All players remain in the ready position with both feet on the ground.
- Only rotate the torso to pass or catch the ball.
- Only pass when there is eye contact.
- Ensure passes are given correctly and not as a 'banana pass'.
- Follow the ball with your hands when passing and return to the correct position to receive the ball.
Execution
- The players dribble along the outer line of the court.
- At various points along the line, a trainer, coach, or assistant coach positions themselves to attempt to intercept the ball.
- The players pass the coach by using a feint or by quickly switching hands. They are free to choose how to do this.
- Encourage the players to dribble with both their strong hand and their weaker hand.
- When the players reach the basket, they may attempt to score with a lay-up.

- 1 defender positioned at the free-throw line
- 1 defender positioned at the centre circle
- 1 defender positioned at the free-throw line
- Place cones at both ends
- Attackers dribble past the 3 defenders
- Defenders earn 1 point for each player they can stop
- Attackers earn 1 point if they can pass all 3 defenders

- Defenders with one hand behind their back
Execution
- Player 1 with the ball passes to Player 2 and takes the place of Player 2.
- Player 2 dribbles towards cone A.
- Player 3 runs towards cone A.
- As soon as the pass is possible, Player 2 passes the ball to Player 3.
- Player 2 takes the place of Player 3.
- Player 3 dribbles to cone B and passes to Player 4 when possible.
- Player 4 calls for the ball under the basket and finishes.
- Player 3 takes the place of Player 4.
- Player 4 goes along the sideline to the queue of Player 1, weaving through the cones with a slalom dribble.

- 1 defender positioned at the centre circle
- 1 defender positioned at the free throw line
- Cones placed at both ends of the court
- Attacking player dribbles past the 3 defenders
- Attacking player performs a lay-up at the end
- Attacking player sprints back with the ball over the full length of the court
- Defence earns 3 points for each player they can stop
- Attacking player earns 1 point if they can pass a defender
- Place cones closer together

- Defence plays with one hand behind their back
Initial Setup
- All players have one ball each.
- All players stand within the three-point line.
- Each player is a tagger with the ball.
- Knock the ball away from the other players.
- Players who lose their ball are out and perform perfect shots.
- As the group becomes smaller, make the circle smaller.
