Basketball drills for technique attack / offense

Setup:
  • 1 group baseline
  • 1 group left wing
  • 1 group right wing
  • Ball baseline
  • Ball left wing -first player has no ball.
Exercise:
  • Player baseline passes to wing and does close out and dribbles past.
  • Player wing dribbles past it with 2 dribbles towards middle and passes to other winger who rotates more.
  • Player who rotates and receives ball does a three point shot.
  • Player who cuts and passes comes back up and plays 1 v 0.
    • Receives pass from player who will rotate later.
    • Therefore, first player here has no ball.
  • Own rebound
  • Variant:
    • Player who rotates and catches ball does a layup.
    • Player who cut does a drive and then a step-back sweater.

  • Midline player dribbles past pylon and passes to corner
  • Shot in the corner
  • Left and right start alternately
  • Dribbling past on the left is passing with the left hand
  • Passing on the right is passing with the right hand

  • Coach throws ball (or collide or roll)
  • 2 players fight for ball and play 1-on-1
  • Defense must be between ball and goal

Setup:
Which team brings in most gold pieces/ pits?
  • 1 bank & one-against-all
  • 2-4 gangs of thieves
  • 1-2 guards.
Game consists of 4 rounds of play:

Game Round 1:
  • Thief - attacker: per post only 1 active & 1 gold piece at a time try to steal from bank.
  • Collect in own vault -hoop-.
  • Guard - defender- may only defend outside the bank.
  • If the thief is caught so tapped, he must leave the gold piece in the police station -under a cone.
  • Which team was able to steal most gold pieces?
Game Round 2:
  • Divide gold pieces equally among the thieves.
  • Thieves: safely move your gold pieces 1-for-1 to other safe -from one hoop to another.
  • Thief -attacker: walk around your cone without the guard catching you.
  • Agent -defender: in this case may only defend inside the bank.
  • If the thief is caught -attacked, he must leave the gold piece in the police station -under a cone.
  • Which team was able to transfer most gold pieces safely?

Game Round 3:
  • Thieves: for x time, steal as many gold pieces as possible from other safe.
  • Thief -attacker: mandatory back & forth through bank = watch for guard inside bank.
  • Guard may only defend inside bank.
  • If the thief is caught so tapped, he must leave the gold piece in the police station -under a cone.

Game round 4:
Same as game round 3, but with double guard 1 guard outside & 1 guard inside the bank.

Which team will have the most gold pieces in their possession after 4 rounds of play?

  • Setup:
    • 1 defender under each goal
    • 2 groups at the center line
  • 1 against 1 on each side of the field
  • Defense stays standing when scoring
  • To score first 10 times
  • Variations:
    • Right and left

  • Setup:
    • 2 players in offense
    • 2 players on defense
    • 2 players at the free throw line
    • 2 players at the other free throw line
    • Teams of 2 stay together
  • Play 2 on 2 until there is a score or stop
  • Defense gives outlet pass to player at free throw line level
  • On score, insert ball behind baseline
  • These go 2-on-2 to other side of the court
  • Offense becomes defense and returns!
  • Team that defended connects at the level of the free throw line
  • Variations:
    • 3 against 3

    • 1 player starts at the bucket
  • Starting player throws the ball against the board and takes rebound
  • Chin the ball
  • Turn and dribble towards center line
  • Outlet pass to player centerline
  • Midline player goes for a layup
  • Dribbling return to baseline
  • Variations:
    • With defender other side of field

  • Coach passes to 1 of the players
  • Player opposite the one receiving the pass runs to the baseline before joining the defense
  • Other players immediately go on offense and defense
  • Stopping the dribble is important
  • Defending the basket is important

    • 3 players in the middle with ball
  • Attacking to one side
  • Defense to the center line, even after ball loss
  • No ball back
