Tennisexercises for technique volley
Objective
- Successfully execute approach shots and volleys.
- Perform the play on both the forehand and backhand sides.
- During the approach shot: hit first and then run. It is possible to strike and pass the body sideways while hitting, without turning the hips.
- During the volley: keep the elbows in front and the racket high. Strike from back to front.
Execution
- Position yourself on the baseline, ready to receive the ball.
- Observe the direction and speed of the ball as it approaches.
- Move quickly to the optimal position to execute the backhand.
- Use your body weight to generate power in the stroke.
- Complete the movement with a smooth follow-through.
- Adjust your position with quick and short steps.
- Maintain balance and posture during the movement.
- Always be prepared to reposition yourself after the stroke.
- Practice different angles and distances to improve adaptation.
Execution
- The player on the opposite side starts in the middle of the court on the baseline and receives a low ball.
- The first ball must be played with a slice straight down the line.
- The player on the trainer's side begins at the singles line with a forehand or backhand, depending on the opposite line of the first ball.
- Play out the rally.
- Can you score with a volley? That earns 3 points.
Execution
- The players stand in the centre of the court.
- One player delivers the ball using their foot, ensuring the ball bounces in a service box.
- The other player is required to approach the net.
- For a lower level: do not approach the net.
Execution
- The players start in one corner of the court on a mini-tennis court.
- They try to volley with each other to the opposite side of the court and back again.
- Count the number of times they can play back and forth.
Game Rules
- Players compete in singles or doubles, each holding a racket.
- A hoop is placed in the centre between the teams.
- A baby ball (purple ball) is used, and players must hit the ball into the hoop each time.
- If the opponents cannot return the ball and it bounces twice, the other team scores a point.
- Players may pass to each other but must not obstruct.
- Players move continuously around their hoop to create different angles for the opponent.
- Start with singles, then progress to doubles.
- First, play the ball upwards to yourself and then attempt to score (singles).
- Receive the ball from the opponents, play it upwards (pass to a teammate), and the teammate must play the ball into the hoop (doubles).
Execution
- The players start in the middle of the court at the baseline.
- They receive a lower ball on their backhand or forehand.
- Perform a deep slice along the line.
- Follow the ball to the net and finish the volley by aiming at the tower of balls (cone).
- Practice the same on the other side or both sides simultaneously.
- 1 sequence backhand slice
- 1 sequence forehand slice
- 1 sequence backhand slice
Execution
- First, play two backhands to any spot on the opposite half of the court.
- Then, move towards the net.
- Afterwards, play two volleys.
- Two backhands and two volleys are played.
- First come the two backhands. Those may be played anywhere on other half.
- Then they run forward and two volleys are played.
- The players start in the middle of the field (baseline):
- They get played a lower ball on their BH/FH.
- Deep slice along the line.
- Follow through to the net and volley finish (aim) at the turret balls. (cone)
- Do the same on other side or practice both sides at the same time.
- 1 set BH slice - 1 set FH slice - 1 set BH slice....
- The players start in 1 corner of the field (mini-tennis) and try to play volley with each other to the other side and back.
- How many times can they go up and down?
- The player across the field starts in the middle of the field (baseline) and gets a low ball thrown in
- Requires the first ball slice to be played straight ahead.
